2019 Mini Cooper Range now available in the Philippines

MANILA: For the 2019 year, Mini has brought its updated Cooper range here in the Philippines. The updated models include the Cooper 3-Door, 5-Door, and Convertible. We first saw these cars at the 2018 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, and now they are here in flesh.

Talking about what’s new in the 2019 Mini Cooper range, we will get to see redesigned headlamps. They now get a new LED light module for better illumination. We also get the daytime running lights and the turn signals have been incorporated around the headlamp assembly. Pretty cool. To refresh the side view of the new range, Mini has provided new 17-inch alloy wheels, but they are only available with the Cooper and Cooper S variant.

While it is a bit difficult to spot the new models from the front, it sure isn't from the rear. This is because of the set of new 'Union Jack' LED tail lights. These lights were first seen on the GP Works Concept. They present a silhouette of the British National Flag.

Getting inside the cabin of any of the updated Mini Cooper range we notice that not much has been revised. The new things here include a new steering wheel with updated mounted controls, a new 6.5-inch infotainment display, Radio Mini Visual Boost and a navigation system. Mini is also providing a wide selection of leather upholstery along with a new Piano Black Style scheme.

If we look at the engine options of the new Cooper range, we will find a 1.5-liter 3-pot Twin Turbo engine with 136 PS and 220 Nm of torque for the standard models, and a more powerful 2.0-liter 4-pot Twin Turbo mill that has got 192 PS and 280 Nm of torque and powers the S variants.

There is one more engine variant available - a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Twin Turbo engine that churns out 231 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. This engine is available only in the John Cooper Works (JCW) 3-Door model. All the engine options now get an updated seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that replaces the old 6-speed unit.

Mini has also included a few new colors for the 2019 Cooper series to keep things more refreshed. The colors include Emerald Gray Metallic, Starlight Blue Metallic, and Solaris Orange Metallic.

The price of 2019 Mini Cooper 3-Door starts at PHP 2,550,000 for the base model and goes all the way up to PHP 3,850,000 for the John Cooper Works (JCW) model. On the other hand, the 5-Door models fall in the price bracket of PHP 2,650,000 and PHP 3,100,000. Lastly, the Convertible S will set you back by PHP 3,350,000.
