2019 Suzuki Ertiga: Variants explained
Suzuki Eritga has been one of the best affordable MPVs available across the globe. It became immensely popular, especially in countries like ours where there is always a demand for value-for-money products.
Catering to the needs of thousands of Filipinos, the Ertiga was gradually fading away into the crowded, competitive market. But then, even though quite late, Suzuki Philippines launched the all-new 2019 Eritga in the country, reviving the MPV’s name.
The 2019 Suzuki Ertiga has been one of the most anticipated vehicles of this year, yet. Firstly, because it is a major upgrade over its predecessor. And secondly, it was made available in other countries much before ours, and this made us much more curious and anxious.
Anyway, there are four 2019 Suzuki Ertiga variants that are available in the Philippines - GA M/T, GL M/T, GL A/T, and GLX A/T. They all have some differences and many similarities. In this story, we will be talking about a few of them.
Exterior
The new Ertiga is definitely a major step-up when it comes to styling and design. Suzuki has changed people’s perception of the Ertiga as an affordable MPV by making it more modern and mature.
All the variants come with projector headlamps which are one of the strongest attractive elements of the entire car. Then we’ve got the new front chrome grille that enhances the premium look. However, the base variant misses out on the chrome treatment.
Other elements that have been omitted from the base model include electronically adjustable body-colored ORVMs with integrated turn signals, front fog lamps, mud flaps, blacked-out B and C-pillars, tailgate chrome garnish, etc.
In terms of dimensions, all the variants of the 2019 Ertiga are the same - 4,395 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, and 1,690 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,740 mm, and 180 mm of ground clearance.
Interior
Suzuki has also revamped the interior of the new 2019 Ertiga. Just like the exterior, it is also a major step-up. The top-of-the-line model gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted audio controls, a keyless push start system,
10-inch multimedia audio touchscreen display with offline navigation, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, a few chrome elements to make it stand out from the other variants, etc. The base model here gets a 1-DIN audio system with tuner and MP3 player. And the remaining mid variants have an 8-inch multimedia audio touchscreen.
As far as cabin space is concerned, there is plenty of it available across the board. The 3rd-row seats can be folded as per your requirements to fit in more luggage. The 2nd-row seats can be also be folded in 60:40 pattern. They can also be reclined.
Engine
The 2019 Suzuki Ertiga specs have got another thing common among all the variants, the engine. All of them come with the same 1.5-litre K15B 4-cylinder engine which has been tuned in a state to churn out a max power of 103 hp at 6000 rpm and generate a peak torque of 138 Nm that kicks in at 4400 rpm.
Suzuki has given two transmission options - a 5-speed manual that comes in the GA M/T and GL M/T variants, and a 4-speed automatic that takes on the duties in the GL A/T and GLX A/T variants.
Thanks to Suzuki’s new-generation HEARTECT platform, the 2019 Ertiga offers an enhanced driving performance and reduced noise and vibration. This platform also raises fuel efficiency by lowering weight.
Safety features
Suzuki has provided dual front airbags as standard in all the models. On the one hand, we appreciate it, and on the other, we are a bit disappointed to see only two airbags.
Anyway, moving on. All the variants also come with ABS and EBD, high-mount LED stop lamp, and an immobilizer. It is only the range-topping model that has been given a reverse camera.
Other than that, the new 2019 Ertiga’s bonnet, front windscreen wiper area, front bumper, and other parts absorb impact with the aim of mitigating head and leg injuries in the event of a collision with a pedestrian. Suzuki has implemented its advanced TECT (Total Effective Control Technology) in the new Ertiga.
This utilizes ultra-high-tensile steel in the construction of the MPV’s body which enhances rigidity, lowers weight despite larger overall dimensions, and absorbs and disperses impact energy in the event of a collision more efficiently.
The new 2019 Suzuki Ertiga price starts at Php 728,000 for the base GA M/T model, and the top-end trim, GLX A/T will set you back by Php 978,000. Irrespective of the variant, the new Ertiga is a great upgrade over the predecessor and a great MPV overall.
It is available in 7 different colors - Snow White Pearl, Silky Silver Metallic, Burgundy Red Pearl, Cool Black Metallic, Radiant Red Pearl, Glorious Brown Pearl, and Metallic Magma Gray.
