2020 Hyundai Venue revealed at New York Auto Show

MANILA: Hyundai has revealed 2020 Venue at the 2019 New York Auto show. It is a pocket-sized crossover and will be either sixth or seventh in the company’s crossover lineup (depending on whether one counts Kona’s gas and electric variant as one or separately).

Design wise, 2020 Hyundai Venue gets a boxy and upright style, which makes it stand out from the crowd among the other crossovers. At the front, there is two-tier headlight designing, which means the lamps are mounted on the centre, while the DRLs sit at the corners.

The crossover is also smaller than Kona, owing to 30 mm slimmer and 130 mm shorter dimensions. Though the carmaker has not revealed the exact amount of the ground clearance, while from the photos, a fair amount of gap is visible between the ground and the car’s body.

Inside the car, there are a lot of interesting features. It has a squared-off dash with a floating infotainment screen. It has door pockets and a shelf on the passenger side of the dashboard. The car also comes with the optional denim upholstery.

Speaking of the powertrain, 2020 Hyundai Venue is available with a total of four engine options. The base variant comes with a 1.2-litre mill, which churns out a maximum power of 83 PS along with a peak torque of 90 Nm.

While there is a smaller 1.0-litre variant too but that gets an improved tuning and produces a maximum power of 120 PS along with a maximum torque of 175 Nm. Thereafter, the 1.4-litre turbodiesel engine can provide a maximum power of 90 PS, while the peak torque sticks at 224 Nm. At last, the US-spec model gets a 1.6-litre unit, however, the manufacturer has not revealed the power figures yet.

In the Philippines, the carmaker has a pretty good range of crossovers including the capable Tucson, luxurious Palisade, large Santa Fe, and radical-looking Kona.

The carmaker has not confirmed yet whether the new Hyundai Venue will arrive for the Filipino or not.
