Automobili Pininfarina teases the Pura Vision luxury EV, set reveal in 2020

MANILA: After the successful launch of the pure-electric Battista hypercar, Automobili Pininfarina gave a preview on another new car design concept, the Pura Vision luxury EV.

The Italian car designer turned carmaker just confirmed that they are planning to launch four more electric vehicles in a bid to develop Automobili Pininfarina into one of the leading luxury automotive companies in the world.

In an exclusive briefing in Los Angeles, ahead of the LA Auto Show, Pininfarina executives namely Chief Executive Officer Michael Perschke, Chief Design Officer Luca Borgogno, and Chief Sales Officer Jochen Rudat announced the second model to be, take note, not an SUV but an S-LUV or Sustainable Luxury Utility Vehicle.

Michael Perschke said: “visionary Italian design is the past and the future and as we head towards celebrating Pininfarina’s 90th anniversary in 2020, we are inventing new markets and new client experiences, and we want to underscore our commitment to Italy through [the> production of pure-electric vehicles there.”

The Pura Vision concept, which was presented by Borgogno, is built on an all-new electric-vehicle platform that the Italian brand has co-developed alongside Bosch and Benteler. His design philosophy for Automobili Pininfarina combines historic inspiration with technological innovations of the future.

Rudat said: “the Automobili Pininfarina Hyperdrive experience provides a new benchmark of performance for hypercar buyers, but it also recognizes the need to introduce new and different test drive experiences that allow guests to better understand the technology of the future. Our clients loved the whole experience and we will be developing this initiative in the future.”

The production version of the Pura Vision EV will be a perfect mix of performance, luxury, and comfort. The SLUV will come with a 120kWh battery that can deliver 500 to 550 km of range with three electric motors that can produce over 1,000 brake horsepower that can go from zero to 100kmh in about three seconds.

The four-wheel drivetrain will give the luxury Automobili Pininfarina EV off-roading capabilities with air suspension giving drivers the option of raising the ride height on rougher terrain. It will also feature a plush and luxurious cabin. The estimated price tag for the Pura Vision SLUV is on the $200,000 to $300,000 mark or Php 10 million to Php 15.278 million.

A full-scale version of the Pura Vision design concept will have its global debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2020.
