BAIC M50S: Features explained

BAIC M50S: Features explained

BAIC Philippines offers a wide range of vehicles that include crossover SUV, compact MPV, all-terrain SUV, pickup trucks, vans, etc. Among this line-up is the BAIC M50S that falls in the compact MPV category and has many appealing features that many would find interesting. We have mentioned a few of them below that should help you get to know the vehicle a bit more and perhaps make a buying decision.

BAIC M50S Features

LED headlamps

BAIC offers the M50S with LED headlamps which is a welcoming feature considering the price of the vehicle. Apart from the function and type, we think that the overall design of the headlight somehow compliments the sloping bonnet and vertically stacked chrome slats of the front grille.

Fog lamps

BAIC M50S Features

The front bumper of the BAIC M50S accommodates two fog lamps that are surrounded by a hint of chrome. The fog lamps fill up the otherwise void in the bumper. BAIC has also provided fog lamps at the rear for added safety and visibility.

Stylish alloy wheels

BAIC M50S Features

BAIC M50S specs sheet tells that it comes with two sizes of alloy wheels, 14- and 15- inch, depending on the variant you pick. Both of them are the same in terms of looks. We personally like the design, it is a bit sporty and enhances the overall side profile of the car.

Decent ground clearance

BAIC wants you to take the M50S everywhere you go, hence it has provided a 185 mm of ground clearance. This should be more than sufficient to tackle the speed bumps and puddles that we usually encounter in the cities. It should also handle certain undulations and a bit of off-road as well. It makes sure that the underbody of the car is protected at all times and doesn’t get rubbed against the ground.

Chrome sides embellishments

To further enhance the side profile of the M50S, BAIC has used chrome above the side cladding. It does make a difference and adds a bit of premium-ness to the car. You do notice it everytime you look at the M50S from the side.

Steering mounted audio controls

BAIC M50S Features

The three-spoke steering wheel of the BAIC M50S is quite good to hold. It also has a few audio controls mounted on its left side so that you don’t have to reach out to the centre console every time you want to change your audio. It comes in handy in most of the scenarios like in bumper-to-bumper traffic, highway rides, etc.

Touchscreen display

The infotainment system of the BAIC M50S is a large 9-inch touchscreen unit that features radio, USB, and MP5 support. The four speakers work pretty good to fulfil your entertainment needs. However, there is no support for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

Captain seats

BAIC has provided the M50S with captain seats for its first and second rows. These seats are more comfortable when compared to the conventional ones that you will find in the last row. The captain seats have got individual armrest to make sure you are at comfort at all times even during long journeys.

Roof-mounted AC vents

BAIC M50S Features

To help the rear passengers feel the conditioned air, the BAIC M50S comes with roof-mounted AC vents. They are located at a point from where the air is easily circulated to the rear. You can also adjust the direction of throw of air with the help of these AC vents.

Rear camera

The BAIC M50S is a considerably large vehicle and to operate it especially while reversing, wouldn’t be easy for everyone. So, BAIC included a rear camera to ease things out. This camera gives you a clear view of what’s behind so that you can easily manoeuvre the vehicle even in the tightest parking spots.

1.5-litre engine

BAIC M50S Features

The BAIC M50S extracts its power from a 1.5-litre inline 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 114 hp at 6000 revs and generates 150 Nm of twist at 4300 to 4500 revs. The engine is compliant to Euro 5 emission norms. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

These were some of the interesting features of the BAIC M50S. It is an excellent compact MPV with a spacious cabin and micro leather seats that offer a good amount of comfort. The BAIC M50S price starts at Php 638,000 for the Luxury variant and Php 668,000 for the Ultra Luxury model. You get a lot for this price. Both the models are available in five color options - Brown, Silver, Red, White, and Blue.
