BMW breaches 3-M NEV sales milestone

MANILA: BMW has already sold a total of three million electrified vehicles. The three millionth vehicle the brand has handed over to a customer was a 3 Series PHEV that rolled out the assembly line of its Munich manufacturing facility. 

The aforementioned milestone, the German carmaker says, was achieved with the help of an uptick in sales for fully electric and plug-in hybrid models in the first half (H1) of the year. Interestingly enough, the said achievement, the brand says, already signifies that one out of four of its products sold in H1 2025 are electrified nameplates. 

“With the delivery of the three millionth electric vehicle, BMW Group has reached another important milestone that underlines the fact that electrified vehicles are an elementary component of our technology-neutral product portfolio,” Board of Management for BMW AG Customer, Brands, and Sales member Jochen Goller said.

“Furthermore, more than one in four BMW Group vehicles sold in the first half of 2025 was already electrified,” Gollere added. 

As BMW shared, its corporate strategy is banking on electric, digital, and circular mobility. Currently, the clients of the company can choose from over 15 fully electric models across all group brands. 

Electrified BMW models in PH

In the local market, SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation’s latest electrified BMW nameplates are the M5 and M5 Touring PHEVs. 

Both electrified models retail at P12.79 million, and both are propelled by a 4.4-liter V8 hybrid engine paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.

At maximum, the BMW M5 and M5 Touring PHEV models have the following output figures: 

Maximum power output (in horsepower)	727
Maximum torque (in Newton-meters)	1,000

Concerning amenities, the all-new BMW M5 and M5 Touring PHEV were fitted with M-specific seats, a flat-bottom M leather steering wheel, and an M-specific center console control panel. Both are likewise equipped with BMW widescreen displays.

As M models, the two nameplates were kitted out  with the following exterior components: 

• 21-inch M light alloy wheels
• Quad tailpipes with two-section split diffuser
• BMW Iconic Glow Lights for BMW Kidney grille
• M Carbon mirror caps
• Power tailgate
• Adaptive LED headlamps with high beam assist
