KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much horsepower and torque can the Denza Z produce?
The Denza Z can produce up to 1,582 horsepower and 1,240 Newton-meters of torque. What are the variants of the Denza Z?
The Denza Z is available as a Coupe, Spider (convertible), and Race variants. This new model from BYD Group’s luxury division uses the E3 Sports Car Platform and a new version of the DiSus suspension system, resulting in a tech-heavy all-electric speedster available as a Coupe, a Spider (convertible), and a Race-specific trim.
“The Denza Z is born to perform and built to win,” BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said.
“It redefines performance with its power, acceleration and dynamic ability - and Flash Charging means it’s the only electric supercar without compromise on how these strengths can be used. Z is a great example of how Denza’s technology-led approach will set new benchmarks in every segment it enters. It really is the supercar for the new-energy generation,” Li added.

Vehicle specifications
For its powertrain, the Denza Z uses a three-motor electric system that produces a total of 1,582 horsepower (hp) and 1,240 Newton-meters of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels by an all-wheel-drive system.
Photo from DenzaWith these figures, the Racing variant, which may come fitted with a set of racing slicks, is able to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in just 1.96 seconds. It can also reach a top speed of 350 kph.
All versions of the Denza Z use the second-generation 76-kilowatt-hour (kWh) BYD Blade Battery, providing up to 408 kilometers (km) of range for the Coupe, 400 km for the Spider, and 380 km for the Racing.
These battery packs are stored in the gigacasted E3 Sports Car Platform, providing the chassis with a stronger torsional rigidity.
Photo from DenzaTopping up the high-performance electric vehicle (EV) is done via the BYD Flash Charging system, which is touted to be able to deliver up to 1,500 kilowatts (kW) from a single connection. Thanks to this, the model’s state-of-charge can be increased from 10-97 percent in just nine minutes. And even in cold,- 30°C weather, the vehicle can be topped up from 20-97% in just 12 minutes.
Other notable mechanical components of the Denza Z include six-piston carbon-ceramic front and four-piston carbon-ceramic rear disc brakes, a double wishbone front suspension, and a multi-link rear suspension. The model also comes standard with torque vectoring capabilities and regenerative braking.
As mentioned above, its suspension system is integrated with the newly developed DiSuS-M intelligent damping, which can make active adjustments to provide optimal traction and/or ride comfort. On the Coupe and Spider, damping is done via air suspension, while the Racing version comes with track-focused coilovers.
Photo from DenzaInside the Denza Z is a premium four-seater layout with a front cabin that was inspired by motorsport. It comes with a flat-bottom steering wheel, bucket seats, and a virtual engine sound generator that can simulate a combustion engine or, if the driver wants, a variety of other sounds.
Other noteworthy amenities present inside the Denza Z include:
- 12.8-inch infotainment
- Built-in Google apps
- Digital rearview mirror
- Powered soft-closing doors
- Up to 12-piece Devialet speaker set
- Suede-like upholstery
The exterior appearance of the Denza Z, meanwhile, was penned by Wolfgang Egger, the same guy who oversaw the overall design direction for the Audi R8 and the Alfa Romeo GT.
In the case of the newly introduced Denza Z, Egger created a highly aerodynamic overall shape with “restrained curves that glide through the following air yet still convey a powerful presence.”
Visually speaking, this means the car has a pointed nose, noticeably short overhangs, and a longish shoulder line. The car looks fluid, and on paper, it is quite fluid too, with its notably low drag coefficient of 0.25 (Coupe).

So, where is the Denza Z available? For now, the brand says that it is available for order in “select markets.” No statement was made regarding exactly where it will be available, but its appearance at Goodwood could hint at a UK launch.
With Denza already in the Philippine market, however, would you want to see the Denza Z on local roads?
