Denza PH introduces all-new B5 in 8 pictures

MANILA: Denza Philippines has officially launched the all-new B5 for the local market. The said model was introduced alongside the B8, which slots a smidge above the B5 in size. 

Notably, the Denza B5 is a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) equipped with plenty of modern amenities and features. Regardless, it maintains a high level of off-road capability, thanks to its robust ladder-frame platform and its dual-motor four-wheel-drive system. 

So, what can buyers expect from the all-new Denza B5? 

Powertrain

Under the hood of the all-new Denza B5 mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) are two permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) paired with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. 

At maximum, the model’s internal combustion component can generate up to 181 horsepower (hp). The front motor, meanwhile, can churn out 268 hp and 360 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque, whereas the rear motor can put out 382 hp and 400 Nm of torque. In total, the Denza-made off-road is capable of producing up to 677 hp and 760 Nm of torque. 

Apart from its beefy powertrain output, the Denza B5 has an all-electric range of 100 kilometers, according to the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Its total overall range, meanwhile, clocks in at 975 km, per NEDC. 

Topping up the model can be done via an alternating current (AC) port and a fast-charging direct current (DC) port. It also has an 83-liter fuel tank. As expected from a modern PHEV, it also has a regenerative braking system and a vehicle-to-load feature.

Reinforcing the Denza B5’s off-road cred are front and rear locking differentials, front and rear double wishbone suspensions, and a multi-terrain driving mode selector system. Stopping power, meanwhile, is handled by a front and rear disc brake setup. 

Notably, the Denza B5 uses the same 4x4 Dual Mode Off-Road system that’s currently in use on the BYD Shark 6, and its fellow SUV, the Denza B8.

Exterior

Appearance-wise, the Denza B5 is a boxy SUV equipped with a large grille, bulky front and rear bumpers, beefy roof rails, and huge wheel arches. Wrapping up its tough persona is a set of 18-inch wheels wrapped in 265/65 tires. 

It looks every bit like an off-road contender should, but it is also packed with plenty of exterior driving amenities. Examples of these include, but are not limited to: 

• Automatic LED headlamps
• LED daytime running lamps
• LED rear combination lamps
• Multi-color charging ports
• Rain-sensing wipers
• Electronic sunroof with power sunshade
• Rear privacy glass
• Power-adjust/folding side mirrors with memory function
• Soft closing tailgate
• Cornering lamps

Interior

Inside the Denza B5 is a five-seater interior adorned with genuine leather upholstery, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, multi-color ambient lighting, a knitted fabric headliner, a car refrigerator, and a negative-ion air purifier. 

Both of the model’s front seats are power-adjustable and equipped with lumbar support, ventilation, and massage functionality. The rear seats, meanwhile, have a 60:40 split-fold feature, which can expand the vehicle’s total cargo space up to 1,064 liters. 

Regarding on-board tech, the vehicle comes with a 15.6-inch ultra-high-definition infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The said display is connected to a 16-piece Devialet speaker set, and is capable of handling voice commands, over-the-air updates, 4G network connectivity, and in-car WiFi hotspot support.

Topping up devices inside the SUV can be done through five USB ports, a 12-volt accessory outlet, and a 50-watt wireless smartphone charging pad. 

The driver, on the other hand, has access to the following amenities:

• Tilt and telescopic steering column
• 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster
• Head-up display
• Keyless entry
• Push-to-start button
• Remote vehicle starting
• Anti-glare interior mirrors
• Adjustable cup holders
• Front cabin elbow rest

Safety

For its basic safety kit, the Denza B5 is equipped with dual front airbags, front side airbags, rear side airbags, side air curtain airbags (front and rear), tire pressure monitoring, anti-lock braking, distributed traction control system, vehicle dynamic control, hill-hold control, a brake disc wiping system, hill-descent control, ISOFIX, electronic stability control, and roll movement intervention - among others. 

Its suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), meanwhile, includes: 

• Adaptive cruise control
• Front and rear collision warning
• Automatic emergency braking
• Rear-cross traffic alert and braking
• Blind spot detection
• Forward traffic crossing alert and braking
• Emergency lane keeping assist
• Traffic sign recognition
• Intelligent cruise control

Notably, the aforementioned ADAS components rely on a lineup of sensors and cameras that includes an ultrasonic radar system, a high-precision millimeter-wave radar, a smart driving surround-view camera, and a smart driving high-perception camera. 

Price

As of its formal introduction to the Philippine market, the Denza B5 retails at P3.798 million. Available color options for the model include Glacier Blue, Juniper Green, Granite Grey, Eclipse Black, Alpine White, and Leopard Gold. 

Similar to the Denza D9, the all-new Denza B5 comes with an eight-year, or 150,000-kilometer (whichever comes first) battery warranty, a free wall charger, 24/7 roadside assistance package, and a free three-year preventive maintenance service (PMS) package - among others. 

For would-be buyers visiting the Denza Arena at the Aseana City Open Grounds, the Denza B5 is offered with an exclusive premier price of P3.498 million. The said offer is available until April 26, 2026, only.
