Leadership turnover from Uchida effective Apr. 1
MANILA: Nissan Motor Company Limited will be under the leadership of Ivan Espinosa starting next month after being appointed as the representative executive officer.

The leadership takeover will be effective starting April 1.In a statement, the Japanese automaker shared that Espinosa would take on his new role starting April 1, succeeding outgoing company president and chief executive officer Makoto Uchida.
Screenshot from NissanCurrently, Espinosa — who will soon steer the company “to achieve its short- and mid-term objectives while positioning it for long-term growth” — is currently Nissan’s chief planning officer.
The passing of leadership came after the discussions for a possible business merger with Honda ended.
Aside from that, Nissan will also update its executive committee. They will report to Espinosa starting next month.
- Guillaume Cartier: chief performance officer and chairperson of the Management Committee for Africa, Middle East, India, Europe will have an expanded role that includes global marketing and customer experience.
- Eiichi Akashi: currently corporate vice president (CVP) of the Vehicle Planning and Vehicle Component Engineering Division, will take the chief technology officer and executive officer role, succeeding Kunio Nakaguro.
- Teiji Hirata: currently CVP of Vehicle Production Engineering and Development Division, will become chief monozukuri officer and executive officer, responsible for Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management, succeeding Hideyuki Sakamoto.
- Jérémie Papin: current chief financial officer was appointed executive officer.
Both Uchida and Sakamoto will retain their post until the annual general meeting of shareholders in June.
