Euro NCAP Crash Test Results of 2016 Honda HR-V
MANILA: Honda HR-V, a nameplate that has brought huge success to this Japanese brand for almost two generations in the segment of mini SUV, has been tagged as a safe car by Euro NCAP safety organization. The car is dubbed as an “urban SUV” and combine elements of Jazz subcompact and big CR-V. This big rugged baby of Honda scored good but not excellent in the tests conducted by Euro NCAP.
Many areas showed good or adequate protection in the frontal “offset” crash where the front seat had marginal whiplash protection and rear had good safety in place. With a lot of metal stuffed into the doors, the dummies reflected the original car, where people inside would be fine if it crash sideways into a pole at 32 km/h (19 mph).
The car scored maximum points for its protection of the 18 months old baby dummy in the dynamic impact tests. In the frontal offset test, forward movement of a three-year old dummy sitting in a forward-facing restraint was not excessive, so points were deducted here. Talking about a child seat in this car, we will suggest you to check a detailed report attached so that you can understand what type of seats are safe to install and where.
Overall, the Honda HR-V has earned a five star rating in the federal New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash-testing. However the results aren't so top-tier. In frontal crash testing (35 mph into a fixed barrier), HR-V was able to achieve four stars for both male-size occupants in driver's seat and female-size passengers. As of now no other safety agency has conducted crash testing on it and from Euro NCAP, the results appear to be just decent.
