Ford Fiesta ST gets more power and a smartphone app

With the smartphones getting smarter with the passage of each day, the applications are also becoming capable of doing so much more. And now, something that should give every automobile enthusiast a boost of adrenaline is the newest smartphone application by Mountune for the Ford Fiesta ST. Called the m225 Smartflash, this smartphone application can increase the power output of the Ford Fiesta ST by just a touch on the device.

The boost in the horsepower is not the only facility provided by the smartphone application as it also brings along different calibrations for the driver to choose from. David Moore, Director at Mountune Performance said, “Smartflash makes it incredibly easy for our customers to switch between vehicle calibrations in as little as two minutes, just using their phone. It adds a new level of convenience and functionality to our packages and embodies our forward-thinking approach to vehicle performance upgrades. The new Fiesta ST is the perfect platform to launch this DIY-friendly, pioneering technology. No laptop, no wires, no handsets – no problem”.

Powering the Fiesta ST is a 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine which is now tuned to produce a maximum power of 225 PS and 340 Nm of peak torque. These figures are good 26 PS and 55 Nm more than what the same engine makes in stock configuration. Thanks to the update, a 0-97 kmph run now takes less than 6 seconds. By simply choosing the “Stock Performance” on the application, the driver can switch back to factory settings at 199 PS and 285 Nm.

Bluetooth OBD adapter, mTune Smartflash (both Android and Apple), high-flow induction kit, Mountune badging, and a zip-up shell case are all part of the m225 Smartflash upgrade for the Ford Fiesta ST.
