Geely offers glimpse of smart EV charging tech
New technology uses AI system
MANILA: Geely Auto Group is offering Filipino customers a glimpse of its smart electric vehicle (EV) charging technology.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How fast is Geely's new smart charging technology?
Using Geely's 5th-generation smart charging station (supporting up to 2,250 kW), compatible vehicles—like the Lynk & Co. 10 and Zeekr 001—can charge from 10% to 70% in just 4.5 minutes, or 10% to 97% in 8.75 minutes. How does it protect the battery from heat?
To manage heat during ultra-fast charging (especially in warm, tropical climates like the Philippines), the system employs dynamic real-time temperature adjustments, an ultra-short Blade battery with heat-reducing laser welding, and a five-point liquid-cooling system across the entire charging chain.Per the local wing of the Chinese carmaker, its next-generation charging ecosystem encompasses charging, battery management, thermal control, and energy systems. And for Filipino drivers, this recent development reflects a broader shift in how electrified mobility is evolving.
“As Geely continues to introduce new electrified technologies and models in the Philippines, its latest smart charging development demonstrates how the brand is looking beyond the conventional definition of EV performance—and toward a more intelligent approach to everyday mobility,” it wrote in a press release.

Fast, smart
Geely Auto Group claims its newest EV charging technology is not only fast but also smart.
With the use of the fifth-generation Geely smart charging station (supports up to 2,250 kilowatts of power), batteries used in the Lynk & Co. 10 and Zeekr 001 achieved a 10 percent to 70 percent state of charge in four minutes and 30 seconds, or from 10 percent to 97 percent in eight minutes and 40 seconds.
The company has also introduced its next-generation ultra-short Blade battery, which uses Geely-developed laser-welding technology to reduce heat generated during charging by 10 percent, while supporting peak charging rates of up to 6 degrees Celsius (C).
Going beyond fast charging, Geely Auto Group also pays attention to battery temperature management.
Rather than waiting for temperatures to rise before reducing charging power, the system dynamically adjusts power delivery according to the battery’s real-time condition.
More specifically, the technology is designed to maintain an average battery charging temperature below 55 degrees C, while limiting peak temperature to below 65 degrees C. The company pointed out that this matters in a tropical country like the Philippines, where it is hot most of the year.
An end-to-end five-point liquid-cooling system further manages heat across the entire charging chain—from the charging station’s energy-storage battery and charging pile, through the charging cable and charging port, to the vehicle’s battery pack.
This means Geely’s approach to ultra-fast charging is not simply about delivering more power, but about managing the entire charging system more intelligently.
Further, the Chinese auto conglomerate has developed lithium-ion pulse restoration technology, which uses micro-pulse currents to help reactivate lithium ions that can accumulate at the negative electrode during repeated fast charging.
As such, the technology can increase battery cycle life by up to 20 percent. Likewise, it can also adjust peak current, cooling intensity, and charging duration according to the condition of each vehicle and battery.
When it comes to home charging, Geely Auto Group developed a low-rate charging strategy designed to help mitigate degradation associated with repeated fast charging and support battery health throughout the battery’s lifecycle.
Unveiled globally on September 23, 2026, Geely’s smart charging system introduces Xingrui PowerMind—an artificial intelligence (AI) energy model jointly developed by Geely Auto Group and AI company StepFun—which coordinates the vehicle, battery, charging station, cloud, power grid, and energy storage system to manage the charging process intelligently.
Geely in PH
While the next-generation EV charging technology is yet to be brought to the Philippines, it reveals what the future holds for its customers: an AI-powered energy management system designed to make ultra-fast charging not only faster, but also smarter, cooler, and more supportive of long-term battery health.
