GWM PH to launch Haval H7 next week 

MANILA: Great Wall Motor (GWM) Philippines is poised to launch the Haval H7 next week, on June 15. 

Touted as a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that sets the benchmark for “capability and intelligent mobility,” the teaser photos uploaded by the local subsidiary of the Chinese carmaker definitely look the part.

Uploaded on GWM Philippines’ official Facebook page, the Haval H7 appears to have the following appointments: 

• A modern-looking grille 
• Boxy headlamp cluster 
• Skid plate-like feature on chin 
• Robust-looking wheel arches 
• Tough-looking side sill garnishes 
• Monotone wheels 
• Roof rails 
• Rectangular taillamps 
• Swing-out rear door 
• Door-mounted spare tire holder 
• Chunky rear bumper

A quick peek at GWM Philippines’ website reveals that it is fitted with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity. Likewise, it also has wireless smartphone charging. 

The driver will be treated to a multi-functional steering wheel with a head-up display for added convenience, as well as a panoramic sunroof, a center console with a cooling compartment, and rear air conditioning vents for the passengers in the back. 

Performance-wise, it uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with either a single or dual electric motor setup, as the GWM Haval H7 can be had — according to the company’s Philippine website — in three variants, which are HEV 2WD, PHEV 2WD, or PHEV 4WD. 

As such, power figures range from 240 horsepower (hp) and 540 Newton-meters (Nm) up to 359 hp and 760 Nm. 

Safety-wise, it is expected to come with the following: 

• Autonomous emergency braking
• Adaptive cruise control
• Blind spot monitoring
• 540-degree panoramic imaging
• Electronic stability control
• Anti-lock braking 
• Hill descent control
• Hill hold control 
• Lane departure warning 
• Lane keeping assist 
• Forward collision warning 
• Post-collision braking and steering
