Unlike the “Kids on Safety” event (which was aimed tapping children aged 7-10 years), the Students on Safety were for those aged 16-18 years old. The agenda for the latter is to ready future drivers and everyday commuters.
Under the said event, modules were specifically curated to those who will be eligible to apply for their own driver’s license — which were based on the foundations of Honda Safety Driving Center’s (HSDC) Teen Smart program.
To make the experience more realistic, HSDC set up a Learn to Ride (LTR) activity to allow inexperienced and amateur riders to try out different Honda motorcycles onsite with the guidance of HSDC instructors.
“We are grateful to have found a partner like the Tamang Ride PH team. From their president and founder, Mr. Hajime Yokota, and even to the rest of the team, they truly embody the same passion we have for road safety, which you can see translates to our insightful and practical activities with them. We look forward to working with them once again. We hope we can inspire other Filipinos to be more involved in our advocacy since road safety should be a shared goal for all of us,” HFI President Rie Miyake — who is also chief of the brand’s local automotive arm — said.
Lastly, HFI mentioned that the extended partnership is eyed to strengthen Honda’s commitment to its 2050 global safety goal of achieving zero collision fatalities involving any Honda vehicle. By 2030, the company also wants cut down the number of deaths due to road crashes by 50 percent.
