Honda PH requests car owners to get their airbag inflators replaced

MANILA: Takata strikes again! No, this isn’t about an umpteenth recall by the beleaguered airbag maker. Instead, Honda which widely uses airbags made by Takata in its cars is now requesting Philippines customers to get the same replaced. Honda PH has sent multiple recall emailers and reminders to its customers. However, the company says that so far only less than 50 per cent people have responded and got the airbag inflators replaced.

 

This particular recall that we are referring to includes a wide range of cars. The manufacturing date is from 2001 to 2015. Honda says that due to a possibly faulty recoiler the inflator shards may hit the occupant's face. This is likely to cause injuries. It is said that in some cases, these airbag inflators may also cause death. Honda PH cars like City, CR-V and Civic are worse affected by this recall. Honda Philippines says that they have also sought help from the government to urge people to come to the workshop and get these replaced.

The airbag inflator replacement takes a maximum of an hour to be done. The customer can schedule an appointment and confirm if the part is available or not. Post this, he and she can get their car to the workshop. Honda reiterates that the replacement process is free of any cost to the customer.
