Is the new Honda Civic en route to the Philippines?

MANILA: Honda cars have always been the ones to look at. The latest-generation models of Civic, Accord, and others are some serious lookers, and there’s certainly no doubt about that. However, the ASEAN region has always been one of the last markets to receive new models.

But once a vehicle makes its entry to the region, it becomes quite certain for the Philippine masses to get their hands on it sooner or later. And now, let’s address the elephant in the room.

At the 2019 Bangkok International Motor Show, Honda, the Japnese automobile manufacturer put on display the all-new Civic and it has given a boost to our hopes of the sedan arriving on the Filipino shores very soon. Boasting the Brilliant Sporty Blue, the Civic was looking astonishingly stunning.

The sedan on display did not show off too many changes and featured a revised grille and foglight housings. However, faux wood on the dashboard and an additional volume knob was added on the RS model. We also saw red contrast stitching on the steering wheel and seats.

The addition of Honda Sensing, which is a safety suite by the Japanese automaker, is the most interesting topic of discussion concerning the displayed Civic. The package brings a lot of safety features and driver aids to the sedan like adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam, collision mitigation system, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning. On the mechanical front, the changes were none, and the same 1.5-litre turbo and the 1.8-litre i-VTEC motors reside under the bonnet.

The day Bangkok International Motor Show packs up, that is, 4th April 2019, our own 2019 Manila International Auto Show will kick start its proceedings. Considering that fact that Thailand is not too far away from the Philippines, there should not be too much of a hassle for Honda to send the Civic displayed in Bangkok to Manila. On that note, we hope to adore the all-new Civic at the upcoming 2019 Manila International Auto Show.
