It’s time to say goodbye to the Subaru WRX STI with the EJ20 Final Edition

MANILA: The Subaru WRX STI has ruled the hearts of affordable performance car enthusiasts for good six years now. Even though the Japanese car comes underpinned by an eight-year-old platform that is derived from the Subaru Impreza, the WRX STI still sports enough gas to leave many behind with ease. However, as the end comes of everything, so has arrived of the current-generation Subaru WRX STI. And, to give the affordable performance car a proper send-off, Subaru has rolled out the WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition.

Don't to be too disappointed, though. It is only the end of the road for the EJ-series engine that powers the sedan, and the next-generation WRX STI should arrive housing a brand new motor under its hood very soon. Subaru will display the WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition at the upcoming 2019 Tokyo Motor Show that will take place next in the month, and that's when we will get know about the car in detail.

From what we can comprehend from the images, the performance-oriented sedan can be seen flaunting functional corner air-intakes bolstered by LED DRLs, gold alloy wheels, pink horizontal accent on the front grille, and an EJ20 Final Edition plate on the motor.

The Subaru WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition will be an exclusive offering for the Japanese market and won't be offered anywhere else on the planet. If that wasn't hurting enough, even in Japan, the automaker will use a lottery system to announce the lucky ones who will be able to drive the Subaru WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition.
