Lenovo's first e-scooter unveiled with P16,995 intro price
MANILA: Lenovo Philippines officially launched the first model of what is expected to be a line of electric scooters. The all-new Lenovo M2 was formally introduced in an exclusive virtual media launch event on Tuesday, March 16.
The M2 electric scooter was developed by Lenovo to lessen the public’s struggle in the daily commute due to the ongoing pandemic. It is also positioned as a way to skirt problems of congestion, rising fuel prices, and fare hikes. The scooter is made with innovative features that make it safe and convenient to use.
In a statement, Lenovo Philippines President and General Manager Michael Ngan said, “The M2 Electric Scooter is in line with Lenovo’s unwavering dedication to constantly innovate and challenge conventions through our products. The ongoing health crisis highlighted the need to connect and do things smartly and safely. Through the M2 Electric Scooter and our other smart devices, Lenovo continues to transform the way people live, work, and play as we reshape expectations and experiences to empower customers with smarter productivity, smarter entertainment, and smarter living for all.”
The Lenovo M2 electric scooter features a simple yet stylish design with a frame that is made of a magnesium and aluminum alloy. The scooter only measures 1,115mm x 1,115mm x 515mm. Its compact dimensions make it easy to ride along the sidewalks in order to avoid getting jammed in traffic. The Lenovo M2 also comes with a three-second fast-folding feature which makes it easy to carry around if there is no parking space. The scooter has a large load capacity of up to 120kg and can go up a maximum incline of 15 degrees, which is helpful when passing through steep roads.
The M2 electric scooter is powered by a 350W ultra-strong motor and a 7.5Ah high-capacity battery. It can reach a speed of 25km/h and travel up to 30km on a full charge. The e-scooter uses an intelligent battery management system to protect the battery from common electric vehicle issues such as short-circuiting, overcurrent, overcharge, over-discharge, and extreme temperatures. The Lenovo M2 has a charging time of three to four hours, which is shorter than the other e-scooters in the market.
The Lenovo M2 comes with a cruise control function that automatically maintains and controls the acceleration and speed while in motion. This comes in handy for longer trips since there is no need to constantly press the accelerator button.
The e-scooter uses a leading-edge triple brake system that uses electronic brake, disc brake, and pedal brake to guarantee that the rider is highly protected from accidents. To ensure a comfortable and smooth ride even on rocky surfaces, the Lenovo M2 also comes with an innovative triple-damping system, which includes hidden shock absorption, spring shock absorption, and honeycomb tire shock absorption.
An LED screen is installed on the handle of the scooter. It displays vital information such as speed, mileage, gear used, and battery capacity. The LED display can be connected to a smartphone or to other devices and accessories through a mobile app and Bluetooth.
Best known for its durable PCs and laptops, Lenovo has maintained its reliability on the M2 e-scooter as it gets an IP54 rating which means that it is dustproof and waterproof.
Other remarkable features on the Lenovo M2 e-scooter are the rubber petal pattern, ultra-bright headlight, enhanced battery holder, and the folding switch. It is available in White and Black color variants.
From March 18 to 27, the Lenovo M2 electric scooter will be available for pre-order at the Lenovo Mobile Flagship Store at Lazada for a reduced introductory price of P16,995 (SRP: P19,995). Every pre-order comes with a free Herschel backpack and Lenovo Trackpods.
Aside from this, Lenovo will also raffle off one unit of the M2 electric scooter through their Facebook promo. To join, like the official Facebook page of Lenovo at fb.com/lenovophilippines, share the Lenovo M2 e-scooter launch post, and tag three friends on the post’s comment section.
