Lexus PH to enter PHEV arena with RX 450h+?

MANILA: Lexus Philippines is expected to compete in the local plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) market with the anticipated introduction of the RX 450h+.

The speculation came after the midsize crossover’s latest electrified version was recently included in the Department of Energy’s list of recognized models. 

Although it already appeared on the aforementioned list, Lexus Philippines has yet to announce its plans for the RX 450h+. So, while waiting here are some of its possible specifications.

Vehicle specifications 

Expected to be called the Lexus RX 450+ 2.5 Premier PHEV CVT, the anticipated addition to the RX lineup will have a powertrain capable of delivering up to:

Maximum electric power (horsepower [hp>)	180 hp

Power is sent to the wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the electric motor gets it energy from an 18.12-kilowatt-hour battery pack.

Should this is the same version introduced in the United States (US) a few years ago, the model will likely be fitted with a 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder engine paired with a lithium-ion battery, providing an all-electric range of around 56 kilometers. 

The battery can be recharged using a Level 1 charging cable connected to a 120-volt outlet or through a J1772 (Type 1) socket for home and public charging. Both are standard equipment on the Lexus RX 450h+.

According to Lexus, the RX 450h+ can be fully charged in around two and a half hours using its standard 6.6-kilowatt onboard charger.

Going back to the specifications shared by the DOE, the model’s PHEV version comes with the following dimensions and weight:
