Lotus Emeya puts emphasis on processing power for smarter, safer drives

MANILA: The all-new Lotus Emeya is equipped with the Nvidia Drive in-vehicle supercomputer, allowing it to complete up to 25 trillion operations in the same amount of time it takes for the human brain to recognize an image.

Dual Nvidia Drive Orin systems-on-a-chip process the data from 34 surround sensors up to 30 times a second.

The system can detect obstacles at a radius of up to 200 meters around the vehicle even in low light or adverse weather conditions, thanks to the four light detection and ranging, 18 radars, seven eight-megapixel cameras, and five two-megapixel cameras.

“Processing power is quickly becoming the new horsepower. That’s why, with Emeya, we’ve built a supercomputer on wheels. It is packed with high-tech features designed to provide customers confidence, safety and satisfaction. It is also fully future-proofed and ready for an autonomous future, with software that can be continually updated over the air,” Lotus Technology Vice President and Lotus Tech Innovation Center Managing Director Maximilian Szwaj stated.

For Nvidia's part, Vice President for Automotive Ali Kani said, “With Nvidia Drive l Orin as the brain of the Emeya, Lotus customers will be able to experience new convenience and safety features throughout the life of the car.”

The Emeya hyper-GT comes with a slew of intelligent features that ensure safe and convenient driving. It is powered by an 800-volt, 102-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in as fast as 18 minutes using a 350-kilowatt direct current fast charger.

Inside, the Emeya features a digital cockpit powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor and Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 software. It also comes with a 15.1-inch OLED touchscreen with crisp graphics and up to seven configurable screens.

The Emeya also has 5G connectivity, supporting over-the-air updates for continuous improvement over the years.

Production of the Emeya is set to begin in 2024.
