LTO orders temporary waiver of DL suspension

MANILA: While others are busy making lists and buying special gifts, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) made sure that it is also giving love this holiday season with its latest order.

Aside from that, drivers who made the same violation repetitively will be dealt with more severely.Based on Memorandum Circular MVL-2025-4829 (issued by LTO Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao last December 12), the agency granted a limited waiver of the accessory penalty of suspension of driver's licenses for motorists.
Per LTO, the aforementioned order is for those who promptly pay the corresponding fines for their traffic violations “without diminishing road safety standards.”

The aforementioned order is applied to apprehensions made from September 1-December 31 this year where a three-month-suspension is imposed. Those who fail to settle the fines within the prescribed period cannot avail of this Christmas clemency.
“In such cases, the regular rules on suspension and/or revocation shall fully apply, including those on demerit point accumulation and intervention programs under the IRR (implementing rules and regulations) of RA (Republic Act) 10930,” the firm mentioned.
“In connection with this, all LTO Law Enforcement Officers (LEO), licensing officers, and other concerned personnel shall inform motorists, at the time of settlement or inquiry, of the availability and conditions of this Christmas Clemency measure,” it added.
However, the agency said that drivers who made the same violation repetitively will be dealt with more severely.
