Mazda PH lends out 'dressed-up BT-50' to Pawssion Project

MANILA: Mazda Philippines has provided a specially- equipped BT-50 as a long-term loaner unit to Pawssion Project.

The aforementioned unit — which is part of the newly-forged collaboration between the two— will be used in the organization’s day-to-day operations.

Below are some bits of information about the Mazda BT-50 unit that is now being used by Pawssion Project.

Vehicle specifications

Based on the pickup truck’s 4x2 AT trim that carries a livery created by Filipino artist Jaykee Evangelista to help raise awareness about Pawssion Project and its cause.

Its bed (which has a one-ton payload capacity) comes with an aluminum canopy that can keep animal food, medicine, crates, and various donations and supplies safe and secure from elements.

Inside it is a sliding tray that will help in loading and unloading cargo without even entering the enclosed space. This feature is complemented by the easy-to-open tailgate and its standard assistive feature.

Meanwhile, the Pawssion Project Mazda BT-50 cabin is fitted with:

• All-weather deep-dish floor mats
• Waterproof vinyl seat covers
• Storage compartments underneath the rear seats

Allowing the vehicle to carry all that load is the high-tensile frame while its 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox lets it move with power and in a fuel-efficient manner.

Further, its high-riding suspension provides 800-millimeter water wading capability.

Among its nifty technologies include the 360-degree camera and rear parking sensors.

To note, the new Mazda BT-50 officially made its debut to the Philippine market last April.

Other initiatives

Aside from the lend-out, Mazda Philippines will donate P1,500 for every new Mazda BT-50 sold in the country starting August onwards to sponsor a rescue on behalf of each buyer. Those who purchase any variant of the said pickup truck will have the opportunity to adopt, donate, or continue the sponsorship of a rescue through a certificate that comes with the purchase of each Mazda BT-50.

“Mazda Philippines’ partnership with Pawssion Project continues to show that mobility can be purposeful—and that every drive has the power to make a difference,” Mazda Philippines President Steven Tan was quoted as saying. “Malou Perez and her unwavering passion to help all these abused and neglected animals is an inspiration and it is something we recognize.”

The partnership with Pawssion Project highlights the company’s commitment to social responsibility and animal welfare that started in 2020 with the Katala Foundation — a Palawan-based organization ensuring the protection of the Philippine Pangolin (manis culionensis).
