Mazda PH to launch new BT-50

MANILA: The local pick-up truck segment is heating up as Mazda is set to introduce the latest iteration of the BT-50 to the Philippine market.

Based on the teaser posted over its official Facebook page, the Japanese automaker will bring in the model soon.

“Embrace every adventure. Live your life's passions. Coming soon, the 2025 BT-50,” Mazda stated in the social media posting last April 16.

While waiting for Mazda Philippines to share to details about the soon-to-be-unveiled product, here are some bits of information about it.

Possible specifications

Based on the name shared on the inquiry page, the 2025 Mazda BT-50 shall have two trims:

• 4x2 AT
• 4x4 AT Pangolin (which was once a limited-run option made available in the pick-up truck’s past versions)

The name posted on the inquiry also revealed that the two variations will share the same powertrain, which will likely be a 3.0-liter inline four-cylinder 16-valve, turbo diesel engine (with intercooler) mated to a six-speed gearbox that is seen in its predecessor (as well as in the brother from another mother that is the Isuzu D-Max).

The said mill, which is also seen in the model’s Thai-spec version, can provide a peak churn of:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	187.4
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	450

Further, the new Mazda BT-50 could be sporting an updated grille design, similar to the updates found on the model's Thai-spec offering.

Zigwheels Philippines is anticipating a little bump on the pricing since it is refreshed a version and could be loaded with more technologies compared to the outgoing model.
