Mercedes-Benz widens NEV lineup with 2 PHEV models

MANILA: Mercedes-Benz Philippines has officially expanded its new energy vehicle lineup with the addition of two plug-in hybrid models in the country.

Announced last week, the newly-revealed models under the Three-Pointed Star marque are the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and the Mercedes-Benz GLC PHEV.

In a statement, the Inchcape-led premium automotive distributor said that the introduction of the two models “marks a significant milestone in the brand’s commitment to delivering sustainable luxury that the Mercedes-Benz brand is well-known for.”

“Now that Mercedes-Benz offers a plug-in hybrid option, the luxury segment has become even more competitive, with the brand expanding its lineup of new energy vehicles to meet the growing demand for sustainable mobility,” the company noted.

The brand’s local arm also shared that the Mercedes-Benz E 350e and the GLC 350e embody the brand’s dedication to providing the perfect blend of environmental stewardship, cutting-edge technology, exhilarating performance, and classic modern luxury.

“These plug-in hybrid electric vehicles seamlessly integrate advanced electrification with the distinctive elegance and dynamic performance that define Mercedes-Benz vehicles,” it claimed.

Here are some pieces of information about the two models.

All-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class PHEV

A returning nameplate, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class’ PHEV option brings back timeless elegance fused with innovative technologies. Per Mercedes-Benz Philippines, the aforementioned executive sedan is designed for “professionals and business leaders who demand sustainability without sacrificing luxury.”

The Mercedes-Benz E 350e has the following measurements:

It wears a low stance and sleek curves that the E-Class is famous for, while maintaining the iconic elegance of the E-Class.

Included in vehicle's myriad of advanced features is the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) Superscreen made up of:

• Four-inch central touchscreen
• Three-inch display positioned in front of the passenger seat

Aside from that it also comes with Burmester surround sound system with 17 speakers, four exciters and 730 watts of power for a 4D experience that allows to play music in Dolby Atmos quality.

Powering the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class PHEV is an inline four gasoline mill with a hybrid electric motor that can provide a peak churn of:

The electric mill has a 19.53 kilowatt-hour battery that gives the vehicle an emissions-free range of 100 kilometers. The said power bank can be juiced up using an on-board 11-kilowatt AC charger or via with Type 2 AC sockets and comes equipped with a charging cable for domestic outlets.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350e PHEV’s retail price is P5.49 million.

All-new Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e PHEV

Standing as one of the brand’s well-loved sport utility vehicle (SUV) models, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e PHEV has evolved and entered the electric vehicle arena.

The vehicle measures:

Additionally, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e PHEV offers up to 470-1,530 liters of space — the biggest compartment in its segment.

Its interior is fitted with an MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) that has the following features MBUX Navigation Plus supports intelligent route planning, Apple CarPlay, a wireless system, and the USB Package Plus (with second-row ports).

Under the vehicle’s hood is also a two-liter turbocharged engine that mated to a hybrid system. It can generate:

The mill is also equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel drive and an off-road driving program while the hybrid part lets the vehicle cover an all-electric range of more than 100 kilometers.

Among its nifty features is the Transparent Bonnet feature that provides a virtual view beneath the vehicle to enhance visibility when navigating steep ramps, rough roads, or narrow spaces.

Priced at P4.89 million, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e can be had in Polar White, Verde Silver, Graphite Grey colors.
