New 2019 Honda Civic to get cosmetic changes and “Honda Sensing” tech
MANILA: One of the most dramatic looking cars in the mass market segment, the Honda Civic has been one of the top favorites in the segment. With the arrival of the tenth generation model of the Civic, Honda rewrote the rules of the executive sedan segment with edgy styling, while retaining the good old traits of the erstwhile generations.
Considering the fact that Honda has already launched the face-lifted version of the Civic in the US market, the ASEAN countries, the home turf of Honda too are going to get it soon as well. As with any other regular facelift, the new Civic too is going to be blessed with some minute visual changes and feature additions.
Let’s start with the cosmetic changes. As evident from the teaser image released by Honda, the face-lifted Civic is going to get a couple of noticeable tweaks to the front and rear bumpers. These bumpers now are broader and have even sharper creases, which do make the car look wider.
At the front, the bumper also sports new housings for fog lamps and a larger air intake at the center. Moving towards sideways, expect the new Civic to get a new design for the alloy wheels. A new design for the lower part of the rear bumper and the addition of an integrated lip spoiler rounds off the changes at the rear.
In terms of feature additions, the biggest news happens to be the inclusion of the very popular and contemporary ‘Honda Sensing’ package. In the Japanese marquee’s terminology, the ‘Honda Sensing’ is a safety package, which comprises of lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Commonly found in Honda’s flagship vehicles, it seems that the ‘Honda Sensing’ has found its way in the new Civic as well.
Given that this is just a minor facelift, it is expected that the powertrain options will be retained for the new Civic. This means that the 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor and the 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine will be carried forward from the currently-on-sale Civic.
