No More Apple Google for Toyota, TeleNav is now on cards
MANILA : Toyota, the Japanese automobile maker is known for looking into the future and serving the latest technological advancement to its customers. Once again Toyota has steped-up to its image, as from now, no more Apple Car Play and Android Auto will count in its upcoming cars. Toyota has selected TeleNav's Scout GPS Link software as a brought-in GPS navigation solution.
TeleNav Scout GPS software is integrated with UIEvolution, the supplier of the link software between the head unit and smartphone for Toyota Entune Audio System. This technology works on similar lines of Apple and Google, it allows users to transfer navigation info from their mobile to the display system in the car. Further, the real-time traffic information and hands-free command option aim towards making your driving experience much more fun and hassle free.
Options like larger buttons, voice recognition, top-quality graphics, and the one-touch display makes the Scout GPS link software a driver optimized interface system, thus, allowing Toyota to further increases the safety features for its upcoming projects. Apple and Android users can easily access this feature by downloading the company’s application from their online stores. “Scout GPS Link will soon be available for Toyota owners for both iPhone and Android mobile phones as a free download with a complimentary subscription from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Drivers can also use the app connected to the vehicle head unit free of charge,” the company said.
Sal Dhanani, President of Telenav's Automotive Business Unit seemed happy while collaborating with world's leading automobile manufacturer. With a sole mission to provide 'a seamless navigation experience across their phone and car screens'. Both Toyota and Telenav aim to provide a customized driving experience to future prospective consumers.
This move by Philippines leading car manufacturer is the result of an early agreement signed between Toyota and Ford, making it clear that automobile manufacturers are trying their best to keep away from Apple and Android info systems. With this, Openstreetmap data will be used for first by a car manufacturer for turn-by-turn navigation.
With Apple and Google entering the auto industry, it now seems that leading car makers are developing indigenous technology despite relying on these tech giants.
