Pixis Mega -A Cute, Funky Toyota

MANILA: Seeing such adjectives for an esteemed car pioneer would surely make you reread it as the brand has always carried an image of a sincere, somber automaker. But with the launch of its Pixis Mega, it has made an attempt to show the funky side of its personality and tried to spread some playful colors.

Looks like a tall toy for tall boys, this mini vehicle is launched in Toyota's home market and carry a boxy profile with tall height that ensures lot of room inside. Moreover, the two selling points on which it has a hope to gloat are excellent driver visibility and spacious interiors. It has a class leading cabin height of 1455 mm that can comfortably accommodate four elders and for easy access, it also has couple of one-touch electric sliding doors.

This tall and cute Pixis comes with a 660 cc three-cylinder motor in both naturally aspirated (52 PS) and turbocharged (64 PS) forms along with all wheel drive configuration. The additional what you get when you roll down the funky sleeves is the ample of cargo space which is there in front of the passenger seat, behind the center console and even underneath the cargo area at the rear.

With extra mirrors at the rear door and tidy dimensions, the car is easy to turnaround in crowded streets. Further, it also has stiff suspension with stabilizers and large shock absorbers that make it a perfect city car. The aerodynamic fins on the tail lamps and door mirrors gives it stability at high speeds and the use of plastic on various parts not only make it light but also give it strength in crash situations.

Supplied by Daihatsu under OEM agreement, the new Pixis Mega is may be one of those Toyota that might not come to Philippines market but still it is nice to see how Toyota came up in different looks with amusing mood, without compromising the reliability and safety.
