KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the special feature of the Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque?
The Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque’s special feature is the mashrabiya-inspired pattern on its hood. How did Rolls-Royce apply the mashrabiya latticework on the Phantom Arabesque?
The mashrabiya latticework on the Rolly-Royce Phantom Arabesque was applied using the brand’s in-house-developed laser-engraving technique, which took five years to perfect. In a statement, the premier British luxury vehicle manufacturer shared that the newly-released product — curated by its Private Office in Dubai — is a one-of-one unit that features the newly patented laser-engraving technique.
The Phantom Arabesque — the company explained — “celebrates the forms and geometry of traditional mashrabiya latticework” which is seen on traditional houses, palaces and courtyards throughout the Middle East.
“Mashrabiya is one of the Middle East’s best-known and most enduring design languages. For Phantom Arabesque, we were inspired not only by its beauty but also by the privacy, light and airflow it creates. Our aim was to interpret these qualities in ways that feel both culturally rooted and unmistakably Rolls-Royce,” Private Office Dubai Bespoke Lead Designer Michelle Lusby noted.

Notable details
Further, the Roll-RoycePhantom Arabesque is the marque’s premiere vehicle that comes with a fully laser-engraved bonnet. This newly patented technique is the result of a five-year development program. Drawing inspiration from the Italian sgraffito technique, which is the method of having contrasting colors by stripping off upper surfaces.
The said effect gave a textured, three-dimensional surface.
“Laser engraving allows us to create a surface that is both technically precise and visually alive. Developing this patented process required years of experimentation by the entire team. Phantom Arabesque is the first expression of a technique that opens entirely new creative possibilities for future clients,” Exterior Surface Centre General Manager Tobias Sicheneder explained.
Further, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque features a distinct two-tone finish — with the main body in Diamond Black and the upper surfaces in contrasting Silver.
Other notable fitments include:
- illuminated Pantheon grille
- Uplit Spirit of Ecstasy figurine
- 22-inch part-polished alloy wheels
For its cabin, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque boasts a detailed artwork made from Blackwood and Black Bolivar that also wears the mashrabiya design cues and an offset dark-colored clock.
Further welcoming occupants inside is the combination of Selby Grey and Black leathers with Black seat piping and carpets (with Black mashrabiya motifs embroidered on the front and rear headrests).
Lastly, the vehicle’s starlight doors are also fitted with Selby Grey piping and Black contrast stitching as well as illuminated treadplates bearing a cross-section of the bonnet.
