Subaru previews display lineup for JMS 2025

MANILA: Subaru Corporation will be unveiling two Subaru Tecnica International (STI) concept cars at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2025. 

The two vehicles, which are touted to be the future of the brand’s next generation of rides, are the Performance-E STI and Performance-B STI concept cars. No specs for the concepts were provided, but the Performance-E is a battery-electric vehicle (BEV), whereas the Performance-B uses an internal combustion boxer engine. 

For the Subaru Performance-E STI, the Japanese marque said that it was given good-looking proportions that were optimized for aerodynamics. Further, it boasts a driver-friendly layout while providing a practical and comfortable interior. 

The Performance-B STI concept, meanwhile, represents the brand’s future entry into the “performance scene.” As the manufacturer indicated, it will showcase the knowledge its engineers have accrued over the years, creating an all-wheel-drive vehicle that is said to continue to offer its customers “the chance to experience the joy of driving.”

Other Subaru JMS 2025 displays

Besides the two concept cars, Subaru Corporation will also display three prototypes and one high-performance one-off build at JMS 2025. 

The aforementioned prototypes are the Trailseeker, Forester Wilderness, and Outback Wilderness. As Subaru explained, the Trailseeker is the prototype for its second-ever BEV production model, and it is designed as a smooth and precise electric vehicle with the capability of going on outdoor adventures. 

The Forester and Outback Wilderness prototypes, on the other hand, are upcoming versions of the two nameplates dressed up with chunkier front and rear bumpers, larger wheel arches, and variant-specific lighting fixtures. The two are touted to be the most off-road capable versions of the Forester and Outback, respectively. 

Last but not least is the one-off build -  the now-famous 1983 Subaru GL Family Huckster, which was built by Subaru of America's motorsport division. It initially debuted on Hoonigan’s “Gymkhana 2022,” and was piloted by Travis Pastrana. The aforementioned represents Subaru’s deep involvement in modern car culture through the utilization of the latest technologies on a timeless platform such as the GL Wagon.
