Subaru Spicing up for NYC Auto Show with its new Impreza Sedan

MANILA: Streets of the Big Apple, New York has already started buzzing with the premieres of new and updated vehicles on the eve of New York Auto Show 2016. Subaru has also rolled out its 2017 Subaru Impreza in the sedan form before the official kick-off of the show while its five-door hatchback will have to wait for the opening of the NYC Show.

Underpinning by an all-new expandable architecture, Subaru Global Platform, the all-new Subaru Impreza sedan gains new look which is somewhat different and toned down from the Impreza concept revealed last year in LA. The production version of the Impreza sedan sports Subaru's patented hawk-style headlamps, revised front grille and flowing sleek line from front to rear gives it a pleasant end. The rear has also been toned down from the concept with the less-stylish C-shaped LED Taillamps.

Aboarding the new Impreza sedan, you won't feel much difference from the outgoing model but a fresh layout with the new dashboard design and the Subaru's new infotainment system gives premium feel to the car.

The new Impreza based on “wide and low” mantra, sits a bit lower than its predecessor by 10 mm to give it a sleeker and sportier stance along with an improved aerodynamics. Its wheelbase has got extended by 25 mm while its been stretched by 41 mm along the length and 38 mm along the width.

All-wheel drive system is likely to be retained in the Subaru sedan as well as the brand's EyeSight driver assist system and the Starlink suite of assistance will remain intact in the 2017 Impreza.

No mechanical aspects have been shared yet but the car is likely to utilize the Subaru Boxer engine whose production has attained a count of 15th million. Subaru has introduced a new range of flat-four engines with cylinder deactivation technology which is also expected to use in the new Impreza.

However, for official specifications and launch date we have to wait for the Subaru's Press Conference at the NYC Show.
