Tesla PH debuts updated Model Y

MANILA: Tesla Philippines has launched the updated Model Y for the local market.

With the refresh, the Philippine-spec Model Y has gained several tech updates, a more stylish-looking exterior, as well as the limited-edition Launch Series trim. 

So, what is the new Tesla Model Y offering to prospective buyers? Let’s take a look at its features and specifications to find out. 

Exterior

At a glance, what was dubbed as the “Juniper” update for the electric vehicle (EV) crossover nameplate was given several new design details. The aforementioned includes a full-width LED daytime running lamp bar, a revamped front and rear bumper, and a smoked LED taillight bar. 

Most notable exterior features were carried over to the newer model, but it also received a new rear diffuser, as well as a fresh new set of 19 or 20-inch alloy wheels. The marque also provided the car with a sleeker body by eliminating some of its character lines. 

As a result of its facelift, the Model Y bears similar styling cues to the Cybertruck, and the upcoming Cybercab.

Interior 

Inside the refreshed Model Y is a minimalist cabin equipped with a sleek-looking two-spoke steering wheel and a new 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. 

Per Tesla, the said screen goes beyond being a unified control unit for the vehicle’s driving functions. Instead, it also provides video games via the Tesla Arcade, a weather map,  a built-in navigation system, and the American car brand’s famed Sentry mode for extra security. 

Other notable interior features include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Ventilated front seats
• Power-adjust front seats
• Power-reclining/folding second-row seats
• Second-row eight-inch auxiliary touchscreen
• Wi-Fi connectivity
• Acoustic glass
• Wireless smartphone charging

Specific to the higher-spec Long Range all-wheel-drive (AWD) is a 16-piece speaker set. Both variants, however, can offer up to 2,130 liters of cargo space.

Safety

Like any modern automobile, the Tesla Model Y comes with a slew of basic safety gear. It has traction control, anti-lock braking, stability control, vehicle hold control, LATCH child seat anchors, and a total of seven airbags. 

The aforementioned are further reinforced by a suite of advanced driver-assist systems, which include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Forward collision warning
• Pedestrian detection
• Pedestrian warning system
• Lane departure avoidance
• Speed assist
• Automatic blind spot camera
• Blind spot collision warning
• Automatic emergency braking
• Rear-cross traffic alert
• Obstacle-aware acceleration

Powertrain

Concerning cruising range, the Long Range AWD can cover up to 551 kilometers (km), as indicated by the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). Per the same global driving standard, the RWD trim has a range of 466 km from a single full charge.

Propelling the new Tesla Model Y is a single or dual motor setup, depending on the trim.

For the rear-wheel-drive (RWD), it can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in just 5.9 seconds. The more powerful Long Range AWD variant, on the other hand, is capable of sprinting from zero to 100 kph in 4.3 seconds. 

No output figures were provided for the Philippine-spec 2025 Tesla Model Y, but here are the figures for the global version:

Per Tesla, the updated model can gain up to 266 km of range in just 15 minutes if topped up using a compatible Supercharger unit.  

Launch Series

As mentioned above, Tesla Philippines also launched the Launch Series trim, a special limited-edition variant for the refreshed Model Y. The trim is available in both RWD and Long Range AWD and adds additional decorative bits to the vehicle. 

On the outside, the Model Y Launch Edition sports a rear liftgate badge and a puddle light badge. Its interior was likewise enhanced with premium textile trims, vegan suede fabrics for the dashboard, as well as a charging console “Launch” badge. 

Price

As of its local introduction, the Tesla Model Y RWD is priced at P2.369 million, while the higher-spec Long Range AWD retails at P2.689 million.
