'The Race Car For The Road' - Meet Honda's New Civic Type R

MANILA: Honda showed off its new Type R at the ongoing 44th Tokyo Motor Show, and yes the same will go on sale in Japan first. It's like Honda's new speedy gift to its native country. Those who followed the Geneva Motor Show must have remembered the car as it made its first world debut on the grounds of Switzerland.

The Type R has always been quenching the speed thrust of motoring enthusiasts and now the new improved version is all here to please the monster within you. Dubbed as the 'race car for the road', new Type R is a road runner powered by a 2.0 litre VTEC engine that effortlessly generates 310 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque, impressive, isn't it. These whooping figures are generated with the help of 6-speed manual transmission.

In addition to its powerful engine, the car is stuffed with many other powerful features that not only make the Type R speedy but also to provides a pleasurable driving experience. Low-inertia, single scroll, turbocharger with electronic wastegate, dual-axis front suspension, four point Adaptive Damper System, and Brembo 4-pot cross-drilled brakes, all are on work under Type R's aerodynamically enhanced body.

In addition, the car also comes armed with Agile Handling Assist targeted for sharper and smoother turns and a +R mode, activation of which will change the setting of stability control, adaptive dampers and electronic power steering for a more dynamic drive.

The aero features are accompanied by an excellent exterior body of which aggressive honeycomb grille, rear wing and 19-inch wheel form a part. Inside cabin is no less and comes with an advanced instrument panel (oil pressure and oil temperature gauges, a boost gauge, a G counter and a pedal pressure meter), and comforting seats and an advanced infotainment system.
