Toyota Asia taps TMP as ‘regional training hub’ for neighboring distributors

MANILA: Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) has picked its Philippine arm to conduct the first-ever technical training for body, paint, and estimation (BPE) for the instructors of the marque’s affiliates in the region.

In a statement, the leading automotive distributor in the country expressed firm belief that the role boosts its role in the regional automotive industry.

BPE Regional Training leg 1

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) held the first leg of the BPE Regional Training last September 7-18 at its manufacturing facility in Santa Rosa City, Laguna—with four body repair instructors from Toyota Asia affiliates in Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, and Pakistan who underwent lectures and exercises that required them to master both theoretical knowledge and practical applications under the guidance of TMP instructors.

For the aforementioned initiative, TMP will hold three training courses in its first year to accommodate trainees across Toyota Asia affiliates.

Scheduled to be conducted until 2029, the BPE Regional Training is aimed at aligning the headquarters’ competency standards across all markets by having after-sales skill development programs. It will also lay the groundwork for a sustained collaboration between TMP and TMA. 

The appointment came after the regional headquarters had a training capability assessment which resulted to TMP instructors getting recognized for their expertise and leadership in training delivery, as well as the company’s sufficient facilities and equipment that would be essential to the flagship program’s success.

With this, Filipino trainers now play an important role in the development of the automotive industry in Asia. In turn, the initiative will sharpen the TMP team’s training capabilities, furthering its capacity to deliver only the best products and services in line with global Toyota’s “Best in Town” philosophy.

This year alone, TMP’s BPE team took home two global Toyota certifications from TMA in the following categories:

• Paint Instructor Course Step 1
• Estimation Instructor Course Step 1

Next year, the team will also undergo training for

Toyota, Masters, and Professional global certifications, ensuring continuous improvement in its BPE training and services in the country.

Further, the latest milestone followed TMP line team’s six-medal sweep in the Toyota 2026 Asia Pacific Skills Contest last August.
