Volvo PH confirms several models affected by the worldwide recall

MANILA: After the global safety recalls during last week from the Swedish multinational manufacturing company, Volvo, there is a question among the Filipino people that whether the recall is also going to affect the local market or not. Now, Volvo PH has confirmed that several models could be part of the safety recall.

 
Globally, around 507,000 units are affected by this safety recall. According to the carmaker, a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine may have a faulty plastic engine intake manifold, which could result in a fire in extreme cases.

 

The local division of the Swedish auto giant informed that some models are selected that have to be fixed. However, the carmaker has assured that a limited number of cars are included in the Philippines that will be recalled. 
 

Volvo PH's spokesperson, Paolo Ella, said, "There are a limited number of cars that are included in this service action. Our clients whose cars have been identified as part of this service action are being notified to schedule their Volvo for an engine management software upgrade to address the issue. We continue to take a proactive approach to this issue so our customers can continue to enjoy a safe and comfortable Volvo experience."

 It will just take an hour or more for the installation. And of course, all the process will be free of charge.

 However, the carmaker's local division has not spoken regarding the exact model years of the cars that are affected in this recall. But last week the brand mentioned that the V40, V60, V70, V90, S60, S80, S90, XC60 and XC90 are a part of the recalled cars. No such accidents have been reported till date for the factory defect.
