Will Suzuki Escudo be the next alternative cum successor of Suzuki Grand Vitara?

MANILA: Tokyo Motor Show is at its peak, with top players playing the field with their new gadgets and emerging ones presenting their yearlong hard work. Suzuki is one such top player, who recently showcased its Escudo at the show. The car is known by various names in the auto world, some know it as iv.4 and others as Suzuki Vitara. In the Philippines too Suzuki has a car named Grand Vitara on offer, but the one showcased is way different from what is present in the market.

Suzuki Escudo is different in only good sense, as it is more stylish and has looks to kill for. And we are expecting it to be a successor to the current Grand Vitara that ranks low on style charts when compared to this new beauty. Apart from the great chrome work on the roof trail, door handles, ORVM and angular grill, it also carries a pooped up bumper, and a never-seen-before headlight and taillight graphics.

Let's know the car in a bit detail -

• Dimension wise, Escudo measures 4175 mm long, 1775 mm wide and 1610 mm tall. As for the wheelbase and Ground clearance the measuring tapes display whooping figures of 2500 mm and 185 mm respectively.
• Under the hood, it will be offered in two engine options – 1.6L petrol and 1.6L diesel. Giving a maximum power output of 156 Nm @ 4400 rpm and 320 Nm @ 1750 rpm respectively.
• The variants will come coupled with a standard 5-speed manual transmission with an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.
• Amenities like climate control, automatic LED headlamp, leather wrapped steering wheel and upholstery, and touch screen infotainment system will come attached with it.
• On safety front, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Radar Brake Support will guard your life.
• With fuel tank capacity of 47 litres, Suzuki will offer Escudo in seven color shades.
