WM Motor opens APAC office in Indonesia, eyes PH entry

MANILA: WM Motor International Co. Ltd. has expanded its overseas business operations in Asia-Pacific markets and established its affiliate, WM Motor Asia Pacific (WMAP), which is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

WM Motor designs, manufactures, and markets leading-edge battery electric vehicles (BEVs) under the WM brand. It has become one of the leading EV startups as it has surpassed 30,000 in sales of a single vehicle model in China.

In a statement, WMAP Director and Chief Executive Officer Yedi Sondy said, “The setting up of WMAP brings enormous trust and confidence especially on new energy vehicle products, services, and experience.”

WMAP aims to bring the future closer to Asia Pacific to accelerate the EV market development in the region. Most of the countries within this region are preparing this future with EV ecosystem that observes green environment measures and provides intelligent connectivity with a futuristic design.

WM Motor guarantees that customers will be provided with high-quality service, vehicle delivery, and EV technologies.

The Philippines will become one of the key markets for WM EVs in the region. According to the Land Transportation Office (LTO), there were around 7,000 registered EVs for local use in the country in 2018.

One of the EV models that will soon be available in the country is the WM W5, which features cutting-edge technology and dynamic performance. The SUV is powered by class-leading proprietary battery management systems with driving range up to 400 km (based on NEDC test).

WMAP will also launch the brand in other ASEAN left hand drive (LHD) markets such as Vietnam, New Caledonia, and French Polynesia.

The market expansion will be followed by the release of new WM cars, MPVs, and certainly, more SUVs.
