Hongqi EH7

Inside, the Hongqi EH7 features a posh-looking cabin layout that displays a nice contrast of monotone shades. It is loaded with advanced technology and premium comfort features, which make trips feel more premium and comfortable. Upfront, you are greeted by a 15.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display that is equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The higher-spec Flagship features a 12-speaker sound system, while the base Executive gets the 10-speaker counterpart. 

Similar to the EHS7, drivers also get a high-tech cockpit inside this sedan. You have access to a full-digital display, a multicontrol steering wheel with a sporty rectangular architecture, and a 12-way adjustable seat with lumbar support. You also get multiple USB ports and cubbies around the cabin.

Meanwhile, in terms of comfort and practicality, its cabin has more than enough room to effectively accommodate five passengers. The first row is a nice place to be in, while the second row can also deliver an executive-like riding experience thanks to its plush and ergonomic leather seats. At the back, it also comes with a generous amount of cargo space for your groceries and light baggage. And, for more emotion, its cabin also gets an ambient lighting system.

In terms of dimensions, the Hongqi EH7 model line measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height. This executive sedan also comes with a 3,000-mm wheelbase and a 120-mm ground clearance.

Design-wise, the Hongqi EH7 strongly resembles its bigger cousin, the EHS7. Upfront, it also sports a pair of rectangular LED headlamps with blade-like LED DRLs, which display a dominant glare at night. The long Hongqi red stripe on its hood as well as a gloss black bumper add more detail to its overall demeanor on the road.

This executive sedan flaunts an elegant two-toned silhouette, accentuated by black window trims, side sills, and a belt line running across the entire length of the car. It runs on a dynamic-looking set of 19-inch alloy wheels.

Meanwhile, at the back, it features a smart, hypermodern design, complemented by a long light bar connecting the two curved LED tail lamps. A “HONGQI” lettering emphasizes its identity to fellow drivers and regular bystanders. A blacked-out rear bumper also adds more sportiness to its overall appearance. And, for easier loading and unloading of cargo, you get a power tailgate.

The Hongqi EH7 model line comes with a Double Wishbone suspension at the front and a Multi-Link at the rear. Thanks to this setup, you and your passengers will be able to enjoy a supple riding experience inside this sedan. It also offers a good turning radius despite its long wheelbase. However, it wouldn’t be advisable to drive this through severely-uneven and bumpy road conditions due to its lower-than-most ground clearance.

The Hongqi EH7 offers two powertrain options. First, the higher-spec Flagship runs on two electric motors paired with a large 111-kWh battery, delivering 455 kW (610 hp), 756 Nm of torque, and a 650-km WLTP driving range. This top variant boasts an acceleration time of 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds. The Flagship variant utilizes an all-wheel drivetrain.

On the other hand, the base Executive runs on a single electric motor paired with a smaller 85-kWh battery, delivering 253 kW (339 hp), 450 Nm of torque, and a 510-km WLTP driving range. The Executive variant utilizes a rear-wheel drivetrain.

Both variants come mated to a single-speed automatic transmission system. This executive sedan can deliver a very enthusiastic pull off the line. Its Flagship variant is lightning quick, while its Executive variant feels more sensible (but still fast). Additionally, highway noise and other external disruptions are effectively kept to a minimum thanks to its cabin’s top-notch NVH suppression system. Ultimately, this sedan is very useful both in the city and out of town.

In terms of safety, the Hongqi EH7 is equipped with a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, tire pressure monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert among others. 

In addition, this sedan’s braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist control, and a brake assist. It utilizes ventilated discs for front braking and regular discs for the rear.

Price aside, the Hongqi EH7 distinguishes itself with a smooth, quiet ride and an exceptional all-electric performance, making it a credible alternative to more established luxury EVs. All things considered, it is a very well-rounded vehicle.
