Very low fuel economy
Initially, I was very excited about buying the Toyota Hilux as I heard great things about it. But this work vehicle has left me disappointed with its low fuel economy. Even when I drive it gently, it’s difficult to hit 30 mpg. The fuel economy drops to around 20 mpg when I’m towing. On the positive side, its ride quality is smooth, and its handling is also quite good on the road, contributing to a comfortable drive. However, while trying to shift into reverse I’ve had frustrating moments. I expected much more from the Hilux! Honestly, I would want my old Ford Ranger back!
