5 Things Missing in the 2017 Suzuki Dzire

The 2017 Dzire is here, it has been revealed and will soon be available for purchase. One of the countries to first welcome the all-new B-segment sedan will be India with an official release date of 16th May. As for the Philippines market, such an official announcement is yet to be made, and we are hopeful, it’ll happen soon.

Since the news of the all-new Dzire popped up, the internet is flooded with information, some speculative and other leaked. This gave us a good chance to study the yet to be released car in detail and analyze its features and specs.

We compared the 2017 Dzire with the ongoing model to check what the new one misses or let’s say leaves behind.

1 Misses the boring appeal

The 2017 Dzire now leaves the old, slightly bulky outer appearance, and rather picked up a luxurious sculpted look. The New Dzire is sleek & agile, dipping modern looks in each stance. Elegant road presence, unmistakable sedan proportions, and wide stance is what new Dzire is all about.

Talking about 2017 Dzire's profile, the front now misses the old single chrome grill bar and gets a new trapezoidal grill. More upmarket, we must say. The LED headlamps are also tweaked, now looking sharper with added features like projector lens and daytime running lights.

The side gets a sleeker look, and prominent wheel arches that replace the dull alloys with 15-icnh diamond cut alloy wheels. The rear says bye to standard taillight and now has LED ones. The model badging placement has also been changed; it is located slightly lower than before that looks good.

2 More sedan than before

Designers have now opted for more sedan like design than before. The 2017 Dzire, therefore, misses old compact sedan look and heads towards sharp and appealing B-segment cuts. The A-pillar is now more curved than before, and the C-pillar also blends gracefully into the trunk.

3 Bye-Bye old Platform

The new Dzire is missing the old platform used by its predecessor and has now opted for the brand new HEARTECT platform. This new chassis is derived from Suzuki latest cars like Baleno and Ignis.   

4 Losses weight & dimensions

Thanks to the new platform, the all-new Dzire losses 105 kg it had on before. Meaning that advantages like better fuel efficiency, more stability, and better performance. The benefit of loss of extra kilos will also be reflected in the performance despite the fact that its engine configuration remains same.

Though the 2017 Dzire still belongs to the sub 4-meter segment, its dimensions are tweaked giving it an entirely different perspective. This B-segment sedan is now 20 mm wider, and its wheelbase has been starched by 20 mm (meaning improved cabin space than before).  The boot capacity is raised to 60-liters that is way better than before and easing those long journey’s luggage stress.

5    RIP old cabin features

While the two-tone cabin stays most of the other things available in the ongoing model will not be seen again. To the list of new changes are included - a new flat-bottomed steering, touch screen center console with connectivity aids like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation and rear view camera visibility are also features that accompany the new touch screen. Old circular A/c vents have been replaced by new angular ones and as a good news new Dzire offers rear A/C vents, thus increasing occupants comfort.

Another missing feature is non-availability of standard essential safety features. The new Dzire has on offer dual front airbags, ABS and ISOFIX safety elements as standard features, unlike the ongoing model.

The 2017 Dzire misses or fails to carry forward at lot from the current model! Look, we almost forget to tell you that it is also missing the 4-speed automated manual transmission in petrol variant, taking its place now is a 5-speed automatic transmission.
