Check out the Chery Tiggo Cross’ cabin

At the 2025 Manila International Motor Show, Chery Auto Philippines strengthened its position in the local crossover market with the launch of the Tiggo Cross. 

Priced at P998,000, the said model is relatively accessible, plus, it has a lot of qualities that modern car buyers may want. 

For starters, it features a relatively quiet yet elegant exterior design. No, it doesn’t get a lot of sharp corners and ultra-futuristic decorative bits, but it gets the familiar crossover silhouette just right via its neatly proportioned body and its tasteful application of silver and chrome parts. 

Moreover, the model comes with a 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine that is touted for efficiency. Paired with a continuously variable transmission, the said mill can generate up to 112 horsepower and 141 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. 

It also uses the tried-and-true crossover combination of a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension, as well as disc brakes for all four wheels.

Plenty of creature comforts

As a contemporary model competing in the highly competitive crossover market, the Chery Tiggo Cross offers its occupants numerous creature comforts. 

For starters, its cabin is kept cool by an air-conditioning system with electronic controls. All of its seats are also upholstered with a combination of leatherette and fabric, while its dashboard and interior door cards get some measure of soft-touch surfaces. 

Likewise present in the car is a six-way manual adjustable driver’s seat, a four-way adjustable front passenger seat, a push-to-start button, front and rear cabin center armrests, an intelligent remote key, and a remote starting feature. 

Other notable interior features of the Chery Tiggo Cross include, but are not limited to, the following:

Screens galore

To the delight of tech-loving car buyers, the Chery Tiggo Cross was equipped with two 10.25-inch screens seamlessly linked together. The one positioned at the center of the dash is its touchscreen infotainment system, while the one behind the steering wheel is its digital gauge cluster. 

For connectivity, the said infotainment system offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto - a rarity in sub-P1 million crossover nameplates. Additionally, the ride comes with both Type A and Type C USB ports, so users will find no need to fiddle around with adapters and other similar implements. 

Concerning sound, the Chery-made crossover features a total of six speakers, comprising four main speakers and two tweeters. 

Decent safety kit

Apart from its decent set of creature comforts and its fancy digital screens, the Chery Tiggo Pro’s interior also comes standard with a comprehensive safety kit. 

For starters, the model has joined the relatively small club of crossovers that were kitted out with six airbags. And yes, a few nameplates locally still make do with only two. 

Additionally, the Chery model has anti-lock braking, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, hill-descent control, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, an anti-theft system with engine immobilizer, a reverse camera with dynamic guidelines, and ISOFIX child seat anchors - among others. 

Lots of usable space

Apart from punching upmarket in terms of in-cabin appointments, the Chery Tiggo Cross’ interior was also designed to be practical for everyday use. 

For its rear seats, a 60:40 split-folding feature is available, allowing for various configurations. The aforementioned, of course, makes the Chery model capable of fitting longer items. 

Its trunk, meanwhile, has a default capacity of 380 liters, which is more than enough for a week’s worth of groceries. With the rear seats folded down, it can provide up to 1,225 liters, which is a good amount for lugging around sports equipment, multiple travel bags, or even one’s entire camping setup. But if its interior space wasn’t enough, be aware that the model also comes with roof rails.

Overall, the Chery Tiggo Cross’ interior makes for a decently cushy daily driver or road-trip chariot. It offers numerous creature comforts, a comprehensive safety kit, and ample cargo space. Plus, it is a lot of car for the money, thanks to its relatively affordable price tag of P998,000.
