Honda Future Goodie Bag - Soon to Launch BR-V, Know it Before you have it

MANILA: Since last year when Honda BR-V was first seen staging at the 2015 GIIAS, news have been going around in the Philippines auto arena about its hopeful late 2016 launch. But it seems like Honda Philippines is still not ready to toss a word or a few on the subject and that leaves us making our own speculations. Well, the initial few months were busy for Honda as the company was busy with the launch of 10th generation Civic and 2016 Accord. But now the ground remains silent and ready for a newbie to enter Honda PH family.

Moreover, Honda BR-V's Indonesian and recent Indian launch make us feel a little left out. But, also in a sense, it is a blessing in disguise, as we’ll get to know the car better through international customer response and how well it performs in the later stage of life.

As the car is coming for the first time and has no predecessor to follow, its aura is completely alien to many. So, in this article, we'd take you on a journey to discover the wonder that’s called Honda BR-V. Below you'll find different segments that'll unfold BR-V page by page.

Please note, all the information is sourced from Indonesian-specific Honda BR-V, it may vary from the one built for the Philippines.

Segment, Structure & Dimension -

Honda BR-V is a mini sports utility vehicle that shares its platform with Mobilio, Brio Amaze and Brio hatch. If you are wondering what exactly BR-V stands for and why Honda opted for such a name, we'll like to inform you that apart from its synchronisation with other Honda kids (HR-V & CR-V), it highlights its forte. The abbreviation BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle and that's what it is, a hulk that can run on the toughest of terrain. This SUV+MPV mix is unique in its own ways and holds justifiable dimension that supports its deeds. The car measures 4,455 mm X 1,735 mm X 1,660 mm (L x W x H) along with a wheelbase of 2,660 mm and 200 mm+ ground clearance.

Under Hood Configuration -

Honda BR-V is supported by a 1.5-litre power mill in the markets where it is launched. The difference comes only on the output front. The Indonesian-specific model produces 120 PS at 6,600 rpm along with 145 Nm at 4,600 rpm. On the other hand, the India specific BR-V is tuned to produce 119 PS and 145 Nm (petrol version). There is a DOHC i-DTEC diesel variant as well that is good enough to churn 99 PS and 200 Nm. As for the gearbox, BR-V comes with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT option.

Exterior Design Language -

Honda BR-V as said before is a unique car with a never seen before body design. On to the front, the car gets Projector Headlamps with LED Positioning, bold single layer chrome grille, circular fog lamps with chrome boundary and stylish air dams. Moving sideways, one can find roof rails and prominent wheel arches with 16" alloy wheels. BR-V's rear end gets stylish features like wraparound LED tail lamps, wide tailgate and a spoiler. All contributing their bit to make BR-V an aggressive looking vehicle.

Cabin Comfort and Amenities -

Honda BR-V is a three-row seven seater mini-SUV and is well designed to offer ample legroom and headroom to the occupants. It’s only the third-row that’s a bit crampy and is only suited for children and short height people. The car is further stuffed with 6" Display Audio Monitor with USB, AUX and HDMI connectivity, double blower AC, Multi-Information binnacle and controls mounted steering wheel.

Safety

Honda BR-V is equipped with Honda's best-in-class safety techs that are aimed to provide you a well-protected ride. The car is fitted with Dual SRS airbags and ABS with EBD. Also, the higher variants get features like Hill Start Assist and VSA.

That's all on Honda BR-V spec front, whose speculative price when launched in the Philippines is expected to fall near PhP 795,800 to PhP 916,900.
