New year, new ride: JAC JS6 PHEV

PHEV version is enticing for its range and peppy output

New year, new ride: JAC JS6 PHEV

As the years go by, more and more car brands in the Philippine market are increasing their respective footprints in the electrified vehicle segment. One of these is JAC Motor Philippines, which could be bringing in the JS6 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) this 2026.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the combined range of the JAC JS6 PHEV?

According to JAC, the JS6 PHEV has a combined range of 1,300 kilometers.
  • What is the powertrain of the JAC JS6 PHEV?

The JAC JS6 PHEV uses a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and a battery.
  • The aforementioned was made apparent when the Land Transportation Office (LTO) published homologation papers for the PHEV nameplate. On this note, Zigwheels Philippines has already included the crossover on its list of cars we’re looking forward to in 2026. Furthermore, we also spotted the PHEV version of the JAC JS6 on Philippine roads back in July 2025.

For now, however, the JAC JS6 PHEV’s local launch has yet to be confirmed. The brand’s previous local distributor, after all, has already begun to wind down its operations and is expected to leave the country this year.

But if the JAC local distributorship is picked up by another entity, the JS6 PHEV could be a fine addition for the country’s growing lineup of hybrid rides. But what can we expect from this PHEV model? Let’s find out here by checking out the global version’s specs and features.

    JAC JS6 PHEV: specs

For the global market, the JAC JS6 PHEV uses a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and a battery. Its electric motor alone is capable of producing up to 201 horsepower. It also has an electric-only range of 120 kilometers (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle), as well as a maximum speed of 178 kilometers per hour (kph).

For charging, the PHEV JAC model uses a GB port. Additionally, the vehicle is front-wheel-drive and has a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. JAC likewise claims that the JS6 PHEV can provide a combined driving range of 1,300 km.

Ride quality and handling for the JAC JS6 PHEV are provided by a front MacPherson strut and a rear multi-link suspension system. Stopping power, on the other hand, is handled by front and rear disc brakes.

Appearance-wise, the PHEV version of the JAC JS6 is a dead ringer for its internal-combustion-only counterpart. It has a similar LED lighting arrangement, front fascia, and exterior equipment lineup, except for its 19-inch wheels, which are larger than the ICE version’s.

Per JAC’s global website, its array of exterior amenities includes power-folding/adjust side mirrors, a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, and roof rails.

For reference, here are the dimensions of the JAC JS6 PHEV:

    Length (in millimeters)

    4,605

    Width (in mm)

    1,700

    Height (in mm)

    1,890

    Wheelbase (in mm)

    2,720

    Ground clearance (in mm)

    160

Being a compact crossover, the JAC JS6 PHEV in the global scene comes with a five-seater layout. The aforementioned is equipped with leather upholstery, automatic dual-zone air-conditioning, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.

For the driver, the model provides the following amenities:

    • Leather steering wheel
    • Tilt and telescopic steering column
    • Cruise control system
    • Keyless entry
    • Push-to-start button
    • Drive mode selector
    • Smart keyfob
    • Digital gauge cluster

Handling on-board entertainment and navigation for the JAC PHEV crossover is a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen linked to a six-piece speaker set. The said display also has Bluetooth connectivity, while topping up devices inside the ride is done through USB ports, a 12-volt power outlet, and a 5-volt outlet in the rear cabin.

Safety-wise, the JAC JS6 PHEV was kitted out with dual front airbags, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, a 360-degree monitor, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking, and tire pressure monitoring - among others.

    Final thoughts

For now, it isn’t clear yet if the JAC JS6 PHEV is indeed coming to the Philippine market. And for certainty on this, we’ll have to wait for more updates. JAC, however, already has a relatively sizeable presence in the local scene and its dealerships have not stopped operations. As such, many are confident that it will see a new local distributor soon.

Currently, the JAC JS6 in the Philippine market starts at P1.38 million.
