2018 Ford EcoSport: Features explained

The Filipinos got to see the Ford EcoSport for the first time in the country in 2014 as it was when Ford decided to launch it here. It’s been a while and Ford didn’t bring any changes to the car, until now. Finally, we’ve got the 2018 Ford EcoSport in our market. Ford has made certain changes in the new model to make it that much more appealing to a wider spectrum of audience. Here are the key features of the EcoSport.

1) New HID headlamps with LED DRLs

Ford has altered the design of the headlights of the 2018 EcoSport. It is new but still carries the silhouette of the old one. However, the main attraction is the inclusion of HIDs with projectors. They are sleek and modern and enhance the overall sporty look of the car from the front. Another thing to notice here is the addition of LED daytime running lights that are nicely placed to make them a part of the entire headlamp housing.

2) Redesigned front grille

The earlier model of the Ford EcoSport was a handsome one. So, Ford didn’t want to mess that up but it had to do something about the used-to appearance of the car. To rectify that, Ford decided to play around a bit with the design of the front grille. The 2018 EcoSport features a redesigned front grille that now sits a bit higher and carries the brand’s logo as well.

3) New front bumper and fog lights

The front bumper has been tweaked a bit to suit the new front grille and the new fog lights. Overall, the entire front fascia of the 2018 Ford EcoSport has received a well deserving facelift that makes it that much more sporty.

4) 17-inch alloy wheels

The new model of the EcoSport has been given a new set of alloy wheels. These 17 inchers not only enhance the X quotient of the car but also helps in improving the car’s performance as they are lightweight and extra-strong.

5) New sunroof

To add a bit of premiumness to the 2018 EcoSport, Ford has included a new sunroof in the car. Ford likes to call it the Power Sunroof which can be operated with a touch of a button. It is a welcome addition and we’re glad that Ford is trying to work things out here to make the EcoSport get highlighted in the already competitive market.

6) Improved dashboard layout

The new 2018 Ford EcoSport features a new dashboard layout. The earlier model had the aircraft-inspired layout that was pretty cool back in the day. But now it seemed to be a bit too familiar. The new layout brings in a refreshed feeling in the cabin of the EcoSport. It is more ergonomically designed and appears to be cleaner and tidy.

7) An 8-inch touchscreen

The EcoSport finally has a touchscreen. Yes, the 2018 model receives an 8-inch touchscreen that has been vertically placed in the center console of the dashboard. It has been designed to fit into the new layout of the dashboard. It supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also doubles up as the display for the reverse parking camera.

8) Ford’s SYNC 3 system

The new EcoSport comes with Ford’s latest SYNC 3 system which allows you to make the car do certain predefined activities by using voice commands. This is a handy feature as it keeps you focused on driving and doesn’t need you to take your eyes off from the road. It can make calls, read text messages, and play your favorite music.

9) Ford’s award-winning EcoBoost engine

If you look at the 2018 EcoSport specs, you’ll notice that the EcoSport is available with Ford’s award-winning EcoBoost engine in the Philippines. It is a 1.0L unit that produces 125 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque and promises to deliver a thrift fuel economy. It comes only with the Titanium trim and is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
