2019 Mercedes-Benz V-Class boasts better looks and performance

MANILA: Featuring both updated looks and better performance, the 2019 V-Class has been introduced by the German automobile giant, Mercedes-Benz.

In its third generation now, the outgoing model of the V-Class was launched in 2014 by the automaker. In the era where facelifts arrive every year, Mercedes-Benz has taken good 5 years to update the V-Class since the last launch.

With a chrome border, there is a new large one-piece air intake housing on the front bumper. The AMG model has also been revised. While the grille now features a single bar along with chrome pins, the air intakes at the bottom appear to be the similar units as before. If you are looking more that oomph, AMG variant is the one you want.

On the inside of the new V-Class, air-conditioning vents have been redesigned and there is also a few new trims pieces here and there. While the trim pieces can be had in brushed aluminium, lacquer, wood, and carbon fibre, the upholstery comes in Lugano and Nappa leather. Just like the S-Class sedan, now the V-Class also features rear seats which are equipped with air-conditioning and massage functions.

The V300d variant of the V-Class now comes with a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. This diesel-fed engine is capable of producing 236 PS of maximum power and a peak torque 500 Nm. A 9-speed automatic transmission takes care of delivering the power to the rear wheels. There is also an optional all-wheel-drive.

Active Brake Assist and Highbeam Assist Plus are the new safety features which have made their way to the new V-Class. While the Active Brake Assist helps in stopping the van automatically, the High Beam Assist dips the lights when needed. The German automaker has also revealed its plans to introduce all-electric vans in the near future. It will be displaying the Concept EQV at the Geneva Motor Show this March.
