2019 Toyota RAV4 enters the Philippines

MANILA: The compact crossover market is getting steamy with the official launch of the all-new 2019 RAV4 from Toyota. The new RAV4 has bold, aggressive looks inspired by the FT-AC concept. Pricing for the new RAV4 starts at Php 1,638,000.

The rugged exterior looks are thanks to the massive front grille flanked by sleek headlights and a sporty bumper. Big alloy wheels housed in square, black cladded wheel arches add to its nature. The rear is rounded off with a redesigned bumper and taillights.

Jump inside the all-new RAV4 and you are greeted with a new cabin. The dashboard is angular and upright with a new floating touchscreen system taking centre stage. This touchscreen unit has numerous functionalities like AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, Aux and the now customary Android and iOS mirrorlink. Other creature comforts include dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, keyless entry, power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, and a panoramic sunroof.

Moving this compact crossover along is the new 2.5-litre Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine. Power rating for this engine stands at 203 PS at 6600 rpm and 243 Nm of torque at 4000-5000 rpm. The all-wheel drive variants have been discontinued in the Philippines, and only the 4x2 models will be available.

A host of safety features are now standard in the RAV4. These are anti-lock brakes, stability control, hill-start assist, trailer sway control, alarm with immobilizer, and 7 airbags. Some of the higher variants also get front/rear parking sensors and a reverse camera.

The compact crossover measures 4600 mm in length, 1855 mm in width and 1685 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2690 mm, and it sits 176 mm off the ground. Depending on the variant, you will get either 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels. A range of exciting colors are being offered on the new RAV4:

Attitude Black Mica, Urban Khaki, Super White II, Silver Metallic, Red Mica, Grey Metallic, Dark Blue Mica, and Cyan Metallic. Toyota Philippines is selling the new RAV4 in 3 variants dubbed LE (Php 1,638,000), XLE (Php 1,87,000), and LTD (Php 2,188,000). The White Pearl version can be had for an additional Php 15,000.
