2020 BMW M8 lineup is here with nasty looks and insane power
MANILA: The BMW 8 Series has always been offered by the German automaker with tasty looks and potent powertrain options. However, there’s still a segment of the population that keeps yearning for more and more.
And in order to cater to the needs of the same, BMW has uncovered the 2020 M8. The 2020 M8 Coupe and the Convertible now form a duo of the most powerful two-door grand tourers by BMW.
Let’s start off with the looks. The front fascia on the 2020 BMW 8 comprises of a sporty bumper which houses bigger than before corner air-intakes. Also, there is a deeper apron and an M double-slat grille that provides the all-new M8 with an intimidating appearance. Uniquely designed dual-tone alloys, slim side mirrors, redesigned diffuser, a pair of dual exhaust outlets, and various gloss black trim pieces make the 2020 M8 even more sporty.
While the interior on the M8 lineup is pretty similar to what we have already seen on the BMW 8 Series, there is the exclusive steering wheel that comes with a special M Mode that can be activated by pressing a button. Other unique elements on the M8 are the gear knob, headrests with an illuminated M8 badge, and seat belts with purple, blue, and red accents depicting the M division essence.
In terms of stuff under the hood, the M8 gets the same 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 as the standard BMW 8 Series, albeit in a different state of tune. While the M850i on the 8 Series makes 530 PS, the same mill on the M8 throws good 70 PS more at 600 PS. If that’s not enough to quench your thirst, then there’s the M8 Competition with 625 PS of maximum power in its arsenal.
Unlike the maximum power generated, the peak torque output on the M8 remains similar to the M850i at 750 Nm. Furthermore, the more than enough power for any situation produced by the V8 motor on the M8 is sent to all four wheels via an xDrive all-wheel-drive system with a rear-wheel-drive mode also available for the drift fanatics.
If you’re up for a bigger and costlier 8 Series or the M8, BMW recently unveiled the 2020 1 Series. Soon after, the German automobile manufacturer also brought out the newest iteration of the 1 Series dipped in M Performance waters. While the new 1 Series is great, the hatch has ditched the rear-wheel-drive in its 2020 avatar.
