Bentley unveils Bentayga EWB Chalet Edition

MANILA: Bentley Motors has unveiled the Bentayga EWB (extended wheelbase) Chalet Edition.

Per the British automobile marque, the bespoke sport utility vehicle (SUV) is the result of a collaboration between Mulliner — Bentley’s in-house bespoke division — and The Gstaad Guy, a social media personality.

“The Gstaad Guy had a very clear vision of what he wanted to achieve with The Chalet Edition. We were able to explore various bespoke textures and finishes to bring this car to life in an elegant way that fit this special client’s personality completely, whilst still feeling Bentley,” Bentley Mulliner Lead Designer Hugo Chizlett was quoted as saying.

“The Chalet Edition values craftsmanship, materials, and atmosphere over overt statements. Each choice — from palette to materials and finishes — reflects quiet confidence and understanding that true luxury is recognized without needing to be announced,” he added.

Personalized exterior

Outside, the Bentley Bentayga EWB Chalet Edition wears a Light Tudor Grey finish — applied by hand over approximately 60 hours.

The paintwork is said to be in tune with The Gstaad Guy’s unhurried pursuit of perfection that defines the Bentayga EWB Chalet Edition throughout. 

Providing subtle, yet eye-catching highlights can be found on the lower trim, where a Bronze-painted Styling Specification, finished with a Fireglow pinstripe accent, adds distinctive depth without disturbing the overall sense of restraint.

A Chalet Edition exterior badging on the front wings and bespoke treadplates complete the exterior.

Warm interior

The Bentley Bentayga EWB Chalet Edition was built to be the ideal ride for traveling to chalets — a small wooden house or cottage, typically found in mountainous regions.

As such, the interior is inspired by these cozy cots, starting with the four comfort seats that are engineered to reduce fatigue for both driver and passenger. 

Since the commissioned unit is based on the Bentley Bentayga EWB Azure, the Chalet Edition not only channels the Gstaad Guy’s incisive, satirical portrait of ultra-high-net-worth life but also places an unwavering emphasis on wellness, enveloping comfort, and the kind of considered refinement that defines the very pinnacle of Alpine luxury.

On that note, the tonal color of the cabin is warm with natural materials, enveloping textures, and lighting. The combination creates a sense of cocooning luxury from front to rear. 

Upholsteries of Saddle leather, discreet tweed detailing, diamond-quilted surfaces, and Liquid Amber open-pore wood veneers exude opulence and comfort.

Fireglow accents add depth without excess, while Saddle-colored speaker grilles integrate the highest-specification Naim for Bentley audio system seamlessly into the surrounding interior.

The Gstaad Guy’s emblem, with a unique chalet graphic adorning the front wing panel, was applied through laser etching. The same logo can be found through discreet badging on the seat inserts and fascia panels.

In addition, Gstaad Guy’s favorite Alpine flower motif is embroidered in rich red and green tones onto the headrests and cushions.

Personalized animated welcome lamps complete the experience.

Powertrain, chassis

Under the bonnet is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that generates 542 horsepower and 770 Newton-meters of torque. It is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission with permanent all-wheel drive, a Torsen center differential, and an open rear differential with electronic differential lock. 

It speeds from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 290 kph.

Halts and deceleration are facilitated by ventilated disc brakes, front and back. Meanwhile, its suspension setup is comprised of a four-link wishbone setup (with 48-volt electric active anti-roll bar) at the front and a trapezoidal multi-link system (also with 48-volt electric active anti-roll bar technology) at the rear.

Technology

The luxury SUV is as technologically capable too, with a 10.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control, navigation, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Its driver assistance system includes a head-up display, night vision, park assist, traffic sign recognition, and many others.
