Bentley unveils first-ever bespoke digital product

MANILA: Bentley has unveiled its first-ever bespoke digital product through Mulliner, the Crewe-headquartered carmaker’s ultra-luxury coachbuilding division that specializes in personalization for its lineup of vehicles. 

Specifically, the company has developed and can now produce a custom animated welcome projection through the application of digital light processing. It is now available for the Batur, and it heralds Bentley’s first forays into digital craftsmanship. 

As Bentley further explained, the animated welcome projection activates a sequence when the door is opened. The second set of looped animations will then continue even after someone boards the car. 

Clients of Mulliner can choose what the car can project, but the brand’s designers and artists will make sure that it will appear coherent with the Batur’s interior details. For example, personalized embroidery inside the car could be given life through animation. The same goes for choice sections of the car’s dashboard. 

The said Bentley product, however, isn’t just a simple projection lamp. Instead, it utilizes five different lenses, combined with two prisms, and a total of 415,800 microscopic mirrors. These components form an eight-millimeter Digital MicroMirror Device that is capable of casting precise images. 

To note, Bentley, and by extension Mulliner, has vast experience in turning materials such as wood, leather, and metal into functional pieces of art. 

Then again, the creation of its first-ever bespoke digital product clearly shows the Crewe-based company’s future-facing stance when it comes to design.

Other Bentley updates

This year, Bentley rolled out the EXP 15. The aforementioned is its latest concept car, and it was previously showcased at the Monterey Car Week. 

As the brand disclosed, the EXP 15 isn’t intended for actual production. Instead, it will form the basis of the company’s future models - perhaps even its first-ever fully-electric automobile. 

Interestingly, the brand did say that this theoretical electric vehicle (EV) will be a sport utility vehicle (SUV). It is slated to come out in 2026, and it will be produced at the brand’s home base together with a long lineup of planned plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and other EV models. 

The aforementioned ties into the Bentley Beyond100+, which is the company’s strategy that is focused on making its lineup of cars more sustainable without compromising on performance and luxury.

Bentley also wowed the crowds at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed with the latest iteration of the Bentayga Speed. Despite its size, the luxury SUV actually clocked in a hill climb time of 55.8 seconds - thus becoming the fastest internal combustion production model to make a run on the uphill course.
