BMW reveals specs of 2019 Z4 sDrive20i and sDrive30i trims

MANILA:  The 2019 iteration of the BMW Z4 is all set to make its public appearance at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. However, the Bavarian automaker has released all the specifications and information about this new soft-top roadster.

BMW had revealed information about the range-topping M40i variant earlier but this new set of revelations includes the newer sDrive20i and the sDrive30i, both of which will be slotted below the M40i. However, the styling of all the three variants is very much identical.

There are some features that are offered as standard in all the trim level, including the LED headlamp units. However, Matrix function is given as an option. All the variants ride on the same 18-inch wheels, though you can opt for the bigger 19-inch units too. Moving ahead, the M-Sport braking and the Adaptive Sport Suspension that came as standard in the M40i, are optional in the lower sDrive20i and sDrive30i.

The BMW Z4 is excellent with the foldable roof too. You get black fabric by default but can even opt for a silver colour. The roof can be electrically lowered or raised in just 10 seconds but at speeds of under 50 kmph. But yes, the most exciting thing about this 2019 model is that even with the fabric top folded, the boot is 50% spacier than what was given in the predecessor.

The BMW Z4 sDrive20i and sDrive30i variants will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. However, the power production is different in the two trims, where the smaller variant can be driven at 197 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque, while the bigger one has 258 PS and 400 Nm of power and torque under its belt. Both of the trims have the 8-speed automatic unit coupled with the engine.

There is one thing that you will find to be very different between the M40i and the two lower trims. While the range topper has Alcantara leather upholstery, the two other variants have the Vernasca leather covers. However, the 7-inch infotainment display is a standard fitment in all.
