BMW X2 Concept Revealed At Paris Motor Show 2016

MANILA: Paris Motor Show is one of the biggest platforms for the automakers to showcase their technical advancements and new offerings. Among many new concepts and launches, one of the prominent showcase is the BMW X2 concept which is also revealed on the first day of Paris Motor Show 2016. Now the X series will have a new member and the production version will be ready by 2018. The concept clearly reflects the unique blend of ruggedness and sportiness which is the identity of the X series.

BMW is upgrading its line-up not only in the Philippines but, across the globe. At the recently concluded PIMS 2016, BMW introduced X1 xDrive20d and updated 7-Series and now the German automaker has showcased a new upcoming member of the family. The BMW signature styling elements are evident on the X2 concept which include kidney-grille, dual headlights, soft as well as sharp lines on the hood, wheel arches, front and rear bumpers, C-pillar and tailgate as well. At rear, the X2 concept is equipped with L-shaped LED taillights that provide better lighting.

The short front and rear overhangs, stretched roofline and long wheelbase highlight the low-slung body construction of the recently revealed concept. The body is finished in Luminous Red, which is further accentuated with two-tone 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels, window graphic surrounds finished in aluminium and large dual exhaust pipes. The Senior Vice President at BMW Group Design, Adrian Van Hooydonk said, “The BMW Concept X2 is a vehicle for active people that consistently seek combination of enjoyment and practicality. The concept reflects a new and exciting facet of the BMW brand within the compact segment”.

BMW has not revealed the powertrain options of the crossover but, it is likely that it will be featuring TwinPower Turbo engines. Once launched, it will be put against the likes of Audi Q2, which has made its global entry few weeks back.
